Why doesn't Ebay take down the old, outdated MrHarley47 guide and the others with misinformation?
It seems as though Ebay doesn't take down any guides, even when members have been naru'ed!!

This person plagiarized Hyacinth's guide with a direct copy and paste of Hyacinth's text (though some was changed slightly when called on it) and her guide is still up years after having been naru'ed:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Tips-on-res...uthentic-Coach-bags-/10000000013774963/g.html

LOL! Here's a Dooney guide written by someone with an ID that indicates exactly how I found this naru'ed member!
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Guide-to-Au...-IT-Collection-Bags-/10000000001377736/g.html

Ebay doesn't care about accuracy since its name isn't claiming the "knowledge!"

Do you actually think that ANYONE at Ebay is capable of deciding which information is valid and which isn't? And if they're going to take down just one Coach guide for inaccurate information, what about the other thousand that are even worse? Other than the Salearea Guides, find me ONE Ebay Guide that says that YKK zippers can never prove a Coach is genuine, or that NOT all Coach bags have creeds or serial numbers and that not having them doesn't mean a purse is fake. You'll be looking for a long time, and find that accurate guides are outnumbered by partly or completely inaccurate ones by at least a factor of 100.

For a while last year Ebay Guides was even playing around with the idea of taking the most commonly used Guide information and making "master guides" with Ebay as the publisher. Someone finally pointed out that not only is the most published or read or "thumbs-up-rated" information not always or even usually correct - I think she used the YKK Zipper Myth to prove her point - but also if Ebay put THEIR name on a guide claiming it was accurate and dependable, they could be held legally responsible when - not just IF but WHEN - people would get suckered into buying fakes based on the information in the "official" Ebay Guide. Hopefully that brilliant idea has been thrown into the cwapper where it belongs.

.

The amount of fakes is staggering. They not only damage the Coach brand name, but they also devalue our handbags.

All very disheartening to say the least.

I value and appreciate the hard work you do Hyacinth, BeenBurned, Whateve, DemRam, and any other authenticators I may have missed, to educate and inform Coach collectors, buyers, and sellers.

Just a quick correction on the Willis inside zipper - since posting this, I've seen a very early, apparently genuine one with the old all-number serial and an industrial-style inside zipper with denim-look fabric so it's possible Coach still used them, but probably not past 1994.

I have one also that you authenticated years ago with that zipper. It's got the random serial # and the blue zipper.

I'm sorry to bother you gals with this but I've been going in circles on ebay trying to find the right etiquette to bidding and I'm coming up blank. I figured since you were very experienced with ebay you could advise me on how I should go about bidding. There are a few bags that I'm keeping my eye on. I would really like one of these and there are a few of them available.

Item: COACH EMERALD KELLY GREEN SUEDE HOBO PURSE HANDBAG (No.E04S-7471 - I'm assuming as it looks the same as the others I've found but you can't see the creed very well on this bag.)
Item no: 151273246693
Seller: nist618
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151273246693

For this listing there is the option to buy it now for $55 or bid on it. The seller has put a price of $25 above the bid box. Does that mean I'm supposed to bid at least $25?

Whereas on this listing you can only bid and it says $50. I'm assuming that I have to bid at least $50?

On this listing it says Buy it now for $65 or best offer. Does that mean the seller HAS to accept whatever offer you give them? I know these are very basic questions but I don't want to mess up and have people mad at me.

I'm not sure if the bag above is the same bag as this one as the dimensions are slightly different? No F2S 7589

Thanks for any help and advice you can give me.

Seller offers an option for buyers to choose an auction with a starting price of $25 or if you don't want to wait out the term of the listing, you can BIN for $55. The seller chooses the starting (opening bid) price and won't sell for less than that amount. It won't let you bid less than the start price.

Seller's listing is auction only and doesn't give you a BIN (buy it now) option. You have to bid at least $50.

Seller offers some negotiation in the price she's willing to accept by allowing buyers to make an offer.

Keep in mind that you only get 3 chances to make offers so if you're too low, you might lose out on the opportunity to purchase for less than the fixed price ($65).

Sellers also can set an "auto-decline" or "auto-accept" amount. Auto-decline is when your offer is less than the seller wants to consider but she doesn't have to manually reply to your offer.

Auto-accept is an amount that if you make an offer that meets it, you're obligated to follow through on the purchase.

Sellers' measurements can vary depending on how and where they take the measurements.

Also , do they appear to all be authentic? Yes

Thanks for any help and advice you can give me.

All look fine as for authenticity.

I'll answer/comment above within the listings to answer your questions. My replies are in red.

I also want to point out that in an auction with a buy it now option, the buy it now goes away after the bidding reaches a certain point, so you may lose that opportunity, and the auction could end up higher than the buy it now price.

Thanks. I've never seen one that colour. Was 1996 the year coach made a lot of colourful bags?
They made lots of colorful bags between 1995 and 1998, but most of them are small. They always made red. There are a few styles from the late 80s, early 90s that have gorgeous colors. I've seen the soho cafe bag and the Becket zip in some really pretty colors, like teal. There was a federal blue made in the 2000s in classic styles that is very pretty but very hard to find.
Oohh.. Wateve, the blue are lovely! I like the 2nd one!
Thank you! That's my favorite too! It looks even prettier IRL. It's in perfect condition and holds a bunch.
So pretty...so jealous :)
For once, the tables are turned!

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Bag?
Bought at Goodwill today...
Approx. 9.5”w x 7”h x 3.5”d Strap drop 23.5”
1996 Lunch Box Zip #9991, yes? I'm thrilled to find one in British Tan...it's getting dark, so colors are dark...I also have one in black.
Any info is much appreciated...as always, thanks in advance!

I have one also that you authenticated years ago with that zipper. It's got the random serial # and the blue zipper.

Thanks, Ledobe! It's good to have confirmation. Early Willises with all-number serials are pretty rare and I've never owned a genuine one. The only one I ever found turned out to be the first of the 0974-534 fakes.
