Thanks so much Hyacinth. So this would be a fake then? Glad I didn't bid on it but it sold!

Item: Vintage Coach Bag Black Leather # C4H-9901

Item no:111315004708

Seller: thiboapril

Link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-...RixxYSpMJBxOp91qpGE84%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I believe it is fake. Besides the incorrect style number (but it's close), the creed is too puffy and font is wrong. I'm a little surprised; I don't think I've ever seen this style faked.

Yes, the creed stamping looks wrong too, the Coach logo is too big for the creed, and did you notice that the serial number font looks a lot like the probably-fake Westin you asked about earlier?

I can't find any valid 1994 H plant creeds, but the H plant was using a different font on their serial numbers a year later although they still had the old-style creed. Both were very different from that apparent fake. The creed stamping is also "puffy" and you should never see that in bags from the 1990s or from any US plant.

Here's a 1995 H plant creed, notice the differences - real at the top, fake one below it.

ETA - correction - I did find a valid 1994 H code, here's a probably genuine Whitney with a J4H- prefix. Notice the slightly larger size of the H, that's what you should see in a genuine bag. The alignment of the numbers will usually be uneven too, in fact like all those fake J8Y- creeds, the serial stamping is TOO perfect.
I want to add that if buying from thiboapril, you need to be careful. The seller also has a fake Dooney and Bourke bag.

Hi, I guess I've made mistakes for committing to buy these Coach key fob without checking the authenticity. Didn't appear to me that people would fake a key chain, but apparently I've just read that there are many! I googled for few hours and read guides and found some differences between the photos, but really there are too many pics put there..

Please, would highly appreciate if anyone could help me authenticate any or all of these. Maybe you own any or notice anything odd from the tag or packaging?

All are from same seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191045325476 (Coach Snowflakes Key Fob 62725)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191081998097 (Coach Garden Key Fob 64380)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191080981381 (Coach Love Letter Key Fob)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191096850044 (Coach Handbag Key Fob 69938)

I need to communicate further with seller as soon as I know. My gut says these are all fake, what a shame I didn't research before.. Thanks in advance!
All are fine.

ETA: Sorry. I didn't see that Hyacinth had already authenticated the keychains before I posted.

Hi ! I love this bag and really wish to purchase it, unfortunately the serial no. of the Coach bag does not appear to end in 9870, which I believe is characteristic of the Coach court bags. Is it authentic?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any help I can get=3:D
I don't recommend botticelli4grace under any circumstances.

A seller of as many Coach items as she has should know her product or make sure she learns it. She has a history of mixing authentic and fake, and even when caught and confronted, she refused to do the right thing and refund her buyer(s).

ETA: This is precisely what we saw with some of this seller's previous listings. She "hides" fakes in lot listings with other bags, many of which are authentic.

In this sold listing, the third to last picture shows a fake with a K3H creed:

Thank goodness that you told me!

That makes me even more wary about buying the other Coach bag I posted about.
Item: Vintage Black Coach Court Bag
Listing number:251492093766
Seller: parkmaxstl75
Link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vtg-COAC...US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3a8e18cf46&_uhb=1

The serial number, appears to be legitimate as it ends in 9870, but the seller does not have 100% positive feedback. Should I be worried?

Many thanks in advance!

Please wait for other opinions on this one as it's not my area of expertise. I don't see any red flags though.

As for the seller's less-than-perfect feedback, in this case, that's not a huge deal. With low feedback numbers, one or 2 dings can really skew the percentage to make it look awful. The negs weren't for fakes. Sellers need to verify that items work and if fragile, package them properly.

In this case, if the bag is confirmed as authentic, I think you'll be okay.

Thank you thank you

Hi Hyacinth, thank you so much for your help & time! I am so relieved to hear that they're authentic. Yes, a lesson learned, lol!

I read somewhere (eBay guide) that:

  1. key fobs don't come w/ gift boxes and to be careful when a seller has many quantity of key fobs for sale.
  2. to be careful w/ bad image quality and visible hardware quality: some of this seller's pictures are pretty blurred and some hardware seem scratched.
I was so positive that they're fake after reading those guides & looked into some photo comparisons.. There were also differences in the charm colors.

I know many online guides may be outdated and not true. I will be extra careful next time I buy key fobs :]

Some of the information is correct, especially about gift boxes. But the ones from your seller are also genuine and are from the Factory stores. The kind of boxes that are fake 99.999 percent of the time are like the two-piece, 2-color ones I'm showing below, especially the ones with labels with words in Italian or with "JKRSL PAVEFOB" on them, although they can say all kinds of gibberish. With EXTREMELY rare exceptions, Coach never made 2-piece "gift boxes" with style names on the labels for keychains.

Always ask here first, some of us are long-time keychain collectors and have a very good library of photos of both real and fake keychains. I probably have between 125 and 150 in my own collection - they're much less expensive to collect than purses. :D

All of the keychains and probably everything else your seller has listed is genuine. In fact I was even able to add half a dozen photos of newer keychain styles to my photo collection. :smile1:

Here are a few from the Fakes Hall Of Shame:

Thank you thank you

1- genuine. Apparently the stamping mechanism got jammed up and stuck on "8" instead of a dash for a while, we see quite a few of those. It's also mentioned in one of the Salearea Guides, probably the one on vintage bags and leathers..

2- why do you think it's fake? I don't have a Kent Bag and can only compare it to a few bad photos but there don't seem to be any obvious problems.

3- the serial number is J9V- and it was made in Mexico. It's genuine.

The bag in the listing appears authentic. When you see a seller with less than 100% feedback, you should look at the feedback to see why they got a low rating. In this case, the seller got it from an easy bake oven and clock that didn't work. It isn't related to selling counterfeits.
