Hi can you authenticate this bag?

Item: Coach Court Bag
Listing number: 181142245118
Seller: blackcherry652012
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WOMENS-VINT...118?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2a2ceb4efe
Comments: I thought the coach creed was supposed to be printed on unfinished leather?

Wherever you heard or read that BS, please ignore it and any other "rules" that came from the same source. Most authentication "Rules and Proofs" are nonsense or out-and-out lies.

I have comment on the second seller, rags508. The same seller obviously hasn't learned a lesson because she had another fake bag that was reported and removed back in October, 2012 and was posted here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-221.html#post23129129

Edited to remove a misleading comment.

The details of the base don't look right but without actually seeing the creed I don't recommend reporting it. There's a very slim chance it could be a pre-1994 bag with an all-number serial number.

The second one's definitely fake. The font of the serial number is fake and so is the big dot under the "o", the border around the Coach logo is too thick, and the strap is NOT a Coach design. Looks like it's already been reported.

Welcome to the purse forum.

I had the identical bag...and back in 2009 I paid to have it "authenticated" by the Bonnie Cashin Foundation. (They no longer offer that service.)

The bag is definitely an authentic Coach, but I was told that the bag does NOT appear in any Cashin-Coach records. They commented that "the relative complexity of your bag further suggests it was done by someone else". They dated it to the mid-1970s, after Cashin left the company, and they assumed that Coach was using up the striped lining material that was left over after Cashin left. They also could not find any bag in the Cashin archives that showed even a similar strap attachment.

Nice little vintage bag...just not a Cashin design.

Hi,

I'm new here. I have a vintage Coach that I would love to have more information on. I would greatly appreciate any info anyone can give me :)

Welcome!

It's a "Slim Satchel" which came in various sizes, so it depends on the measurements as to which one it is.

I personally don't know the exact years Coach used that particular "mark", but probably from the mid to later 1970's on to possibly the early 1980's...though that's a guess.

Just curious, did bags with just this type lozenge/embossing ever get done after the use of creed patch stamping took place? (70's)? I'd not heard that before so just checking.

In all honesty, anything I say is only speculation. I've seen that mark on one bag that was authenticated by the Cashin Foundation and deemed an authentic Cashin design.

I have a bag with that same mark that I had authenticated by the BCF only to find it was not a Cashin design and that it was made after she left.

I think that once Coach came up with the "creed", as we know it today, that they didn't go back to those early marks. Just an assumption though.
