I am learning how to work this app on a new phone, I posted pics in a reply directly under the original post. I'm sorry but I can't even figure out how to delete the original post.

No problem, it's only necessary to delete something if the post can't be edited and contains incorrect or misleading information. ;)

Hiya!
Just wanted to stick my head in and thank you all again for the priceless opinions and information you give indiscriminately!
Especially appreciated when I see it is not the same way in every group on TPF. I guess there are not any special rules or policies.
Note the comment that was posted by an authenticator in "another" authentication group..not directed at me, though I surely took it that way because of my ONE request 10 days ago.

"Please also be reminded that we would only like to authenticate for collectors and not for the resellers. Thanks. :) "

I respect their choice, but you would think that by ensuring sellers only sell authentic items they are indirectly benefiting those "collectors" NO?

That "other" forum's policy doesn't make sense to me either. Sometimes sellers need to know how to spot fakes just as much as buyers. As long as they follow the forum rules and don't post active links to their listings, what difference does it make? But each forum is free to interpret the rules as they see fit.

(And we can usually spot when someone is abusing the system or trying to drum up either online or private sales for their items.)

1- genuine Madison Biltmore

2- genuine Dinky Bag but from 1997 and so not technically "vintage". The Biltmore doesn't quite meet the accepted definition of "vintage" as 20 years old or more yet either.

Thanks Hyacinth for the quick response. Much appreciated. On point regarding vintage. Sellers just like to throw that term around unfortunately.

I'm SO glad I started doing research on Coach authentication and found you all! I'm new to all of this and new to eBay... After reading, I feel as though my purchases may have been over zealous. Would you mind authenticating the following bag? I have 4 more, but this is my favorite. If possible, could you also provide some detail so I know what I bought? Hope I posted this correctly and these pics uploaded...Thanks in advance so much for all you do! I LOVE THIS APP!!

It's Mercer mini hobo from 2000. It originally retailed for $137. I think the color was called jet.

No, it does not have the Brahmin name on it anywhere. That is why I realized it is fake, but actually it is not fake, it is just similar to Brahmin style - but it was advertised as Brahmin, and had the fob on it so not worth what I paid. It's actually quite nice. I can put up a photo or two but I don't want to do anything against TPF rules, since this is the Coach sub forum.
I wouldn't have an issue with pictures though mods might (if they read here). (This subforum seems to be rather "mod-free" though.)

That said, pictures aren't necessary. without any markings, it's not fake; just inspired and whehter the seller set out to purposely mislead you or if she was misled herself, I don't know. She might have purchased it with the Brahmin fob and thought it was a Brahmin bag.

But as has been pointed out numerous times on Coach, Dooney and other forums where parts are removable, authenticity of an item can't be judged based on a removable or replaceable part.

As for your purchase, it's definitely SNAD since you purchased what was advertised as Brahmin but wasn't. I suggest that before you open a dispute, you try to work it out with the seller beforehand.

I'm sorry someone posted that on another authentication thread. I don't feel that way at all. Anything I can do to reduce the number of fakes on the market help all of us, both buyers and sellers. There are styles I want but am afraid to buy because of the potential of getting a fake. I'm sure there are other collectors who feel the same way, so anything we can do to reduce that possibility should be encouraged.
I feel the same way and as long as I don't get the impression that a seller is promoting her items (and it has happened), I will authenticate.

I think the line of thinking is that sellers are making money on the items they list and should be able to afford to have them professionally authenticated if they aren't sure they're authentic.

Some of the busier label subforums won't authenticate private sales, completed listings or Craigslist, but I've watched some of those threads and they get far more requests than we do here so if they did completed, private and other items, they'd never have time to eat or pee!

Good evening everyone! I have found a couple of purses I am really interested in except the sellers haven't responded yet as to whether they will ship to Canada but I want to be ready if they do.

Any info would be appreciated re name age etc. TIA.

Thank you very much whateve! I'm glad this one's real!

Oops I didn't reply to the specific post! I haven't figured out how to do that...

Very odd listings! I can't see the creed at all in the first one so I can't authenticate. The second one originally had a glued-on serial number that fell off or was removed. It would have been made in the late 70's or early 80's. I don't know why the seller doesn't have a picture from further away so you can see the whole bag. It is probably authentic. From the description, it could be a skinny tote, but why wouldn't she show a picture of the kisslock pocket, which IMO is the best part of this bag? I'm surprised as many people are bidding with just those pictures to go on.

Yes! Thanks again! I have a few more that I'm even less sure of... All your advice and guidance is appreciated.

Of course - I never open a dispute without talking to the seller first.
Actually it is someone I buy from often and we already worked it out.
