Comment: Seller states there is no creed. Is it possible the metal Coach tag has fallen off, or is it just not a Coach bag?

The Asheville Zip was introduced in the mid-90s so it HAS to have a stamped creed. Why would it have a metal tag? There's no way it could have completely worn off, so either the seller isn't looking closely enough, or it's not a Coach.

The seller's comments in the listing that say that at the time it was made, Coach wasn't stamping anything in the bags is complete BS. There's NO way I'd buy that bag or trust that seller to know what she's talking about.

EDITED TO ADD - here's the page in Coach's Early Fall 1997 catalog where Coach introduces that style as "New" - so why is the seller saying what she is - ignorance or a deliberate lie?

You're going to love her answer to my question about the missing creed! I have since replied to this with a quote of some of your analysis and referred her to the guide on the myth of the YKK zipper

"hi, no there isn't on either of these two bags I am selling but I have sold these coach
Ashville bags before and the were none on those either.. It does have the YKK zippers are on them... If you are concerned about the lack of no Coach Creed or serial number, please do look that up or ask a seasoned prominate Coach seller here on ebay but please don't ask at a Coach Outlet or a newer Coach mall store... They only understand and no about mondern Coach bags... thanks, ..."

I then got this reply:

Hi, I have been selling on ebay for 12 years now and if you have read my feedback you would see why I am still sell Coach on ebay... By the way I DON'T SELL OUTSIDE THE USA AND SO THIS CONVERSATION SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED...

I have

Having problems replying on this PC so will have to wait unitl later. I have had some intresting replies from the seller who should be reported.

First of all, stop contacting the seller. If you're contacting her through Ebay Messaging she could report you for harrassment.

If she's admitted in any message that the bag is fake, report the fake bag to Ebay with a copy of what she said and the Ebay Message number.

She's either a liar or an idiot. Her problem, not yours.

Meanwhile, it would be a really good idea for everyone to avoid buying any Coach products from clotheshorsegal

Good advice thanks.

Regarding clotheshorsegal, this isn't the first time she has listed and/or sold fakes. I have record of an ASQ I sent clotheshorsegal back in February 2008 when the seller had a "Coach" bag with serial number NT-4903.

This was her reply to me:

I assure you I am NOT trying to sell knock offs! I do my homework and have done so for 10 years, without the help of someone like yourself advising me! I am a 58 year old granny who is just trying to make a extra buck! The authenticity is inside thisbag as stated and has the coach hangtag attached. As far as any of my older coach bags go, when these were all made there was no such thing as knock offs... Foletta

ETA: In fact, the seller posted and was responded to by both Hyancinth and me: (It looks like clotheshorsegal is no longer a tpf'er.)

Another ETA: You'd think that after those posts from February, 2010, the seller might have learned to authenticate her items before listing them, however, this post from several months later (July, 2010) shows that the seller still continues to list fakes with invalid serial numbers.

It's bad isn't it? (Thanks for the advice on how to reply to multiple posts!)
You're welcome! That bag is a mess. I've seen some Korean bags that look like that. The most obvious mistake is the shape of the turnlock. An authentic station bag has a seam in the middle of the bottom. The handle is too thick. There are extra strips of leather on the inside of the flap. Even with the blur on the inside, you can tell that isn't even close to a real creed - the font is wrong, there is no border around the title, and a Coach creed never has the word "leather" as part of the heading.

What really pees me off is that she advised me to seek advice from a "seasoned prominate (sic) Coach seller..." , and when I did and she didn't like the answer she got aggressive.

As a buyer I really object to having to sift through the trash and ebay does nothing about it. If it wasn't for the fantastic volunteer work that you and Hyacinth, Whateve and others do here, lots of buyers wouldn't bother for fear of bring ripped off.
