I'm also wondering why the seller lists the item as located in NYC and even offers local pickup there but their Member and Feedback ID History pages show them as being based in France. The last two FB comments were even posted in French. It's also a potential problem that the last transaction was 11 months ago. Sometimes that kind of discrepancy and gap bewtween transactions can indicate a possible account hijack.

So, you think the eBay member's account may have been hacked/taken? At this point is there anything else I could provide to make it easier or possible to confirm it is authentic?

My friend that won it (just received it today I think) said it was shipped from NYC overnight. She was told it was given to the seller as a "limited" edition.

Thanks again for your help and expertise!

I'm not sure, BeenBurned is better at seeing those warning signs than I am. But a "limited edition" would still have a valid style number, sometimes but not always with a series number like "37 out of 100". As she said, 99999 isn't a valid style number, and we've seen a lot of apparent fakes in the last year or two with that same style number and the seller claiming the bag was a sample. When we see that number I think we tend to feel that it's either questionable or fake unless it can CONVINCINGLY be proved genuine, and we don't convince easily.

I'm always extremely suspicious of expensive bags that are given or received as "gifts", that's another tag that's used by hundreds of fakes sellers so they can deny responsibility or knowledge if the buyer finds out the bag is fake.

Your friend might want to post photos of the actual bag and if someone can figure out what style it's supposed to be, they can look it over and compare to a known genuine version.

Something else to consider is that it doesn't seem like the year and month code indicating June 2006 is anywhere close to when this style of Madison would have been made. I hope someone knows the actual name and style number of this design and when it was made. There isn't one on Ebay like it especially with the braided handles, and I looked at over 300 listings using the keywords Coach Madison Python..
Okay, I do have further concerns. The one thing that doesn't worry me is the "French connection" because the seller has feedbacks in French as far back as when she started in 2001 and sales of Coach items intermingled from 2010. It's interesting though that the Coach feedbacks are in English. (The seller location is France.)

I did find a post on TPF with a picture of the bag. The poster doesn't show the creed so I don't know when her bag was made but her post is from 2012, long after the supposed manufacture date of the bag you bought. And from my own records, I found my first bag with the horse and carriage plaque was from 2008 (a Sabrina). From what I recall without doing a lot of digging, the Madison Sabrina was the first with the HAC. Therefore, I don't believe that the Abigail would have been from 2006 and wouldn't have a 2006 production date on its creed.

The style number would be 18949.

And here's a picture of a creed for 18949 showing this bag as being made in 2011, much more likely for the Abigail.

ETA: Based on what I've found, I don't believe your bag is authentic. Based on the Abigail TPF thread and other posts, the style wasn't made until 2011.

Ugh! Another possibility is style 18929 for what appears to be the same style. No creed shown though this one shows the tag.

I still don't believe this one would have been 2006.

Thank you so much for your research and reply. Since it sounds like you believe this is most likely a fake - would you suggest my friend file a claim on eBay? I personally have never had any issues and not sure she has either. (with buying on eBay)

Thanks again.

I still don't believe this one would have been 2006.

It wouldn't be the 18929 since that doesn't have woven handles. (And I REALLY wish everyone posting reveals at the other forum would post a creed pic. It would make a lot of authentications so much easier!)

I haven't saved any photos but I've seen other alleged "samples" with 99999 and with what might be that same 2006 serial prefix. It's barely possible that wherever they're making the sample bags in China (IF they are) they're using the same really old creed and serial number stamp, but that just doesn't make sense since, even though the serial stamps must have been upgraded and improved since since the 1980s and 90s, they should still be able to change all the production codes. So why keep the stamp year code set at 2006? I can't imagine them making one non-adjustable stamp to be used for samples with a date that's years behind the time the sample was actually made. One other problem is that valid F06*- prefixes should have still had the old single-digit plant codes, not a two-digit number like "73".

ETA - Here's another alleged "sample" from seller LOVE2SHOPDOTBAGS with the same serial number but a different creed stamp without the Carriage logo.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-COACH-L...065?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item5af5780889
Most people assume this seller is an expert and she tries to give that impression in her listings but I can't agree with that - not only is she no longer showing the creed and serial number in her listings and apparently thinks that YKK zippers prove a Coach is genuine, but she currently has a City Willis, style 9153 listed with this statement in the listings:

"[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I owned two bags in this same exact style. They both have BRASS HARDWARE and YKK zippers. The only difference is the prefix code, this bag has a prefix code of L9C, while the other has a prefix code of J6D. Both bags I bought them myself at Coach. Both are Guaranteed Authentic as ALWAYS..."

Not only is J6D- a questionable prefix that's been used in many fakes, but how could a bag style that wasn't even introduced until late 1999 (the Wayback Machine actually shows it as "new" in March of 2000) have had a prefix with a 1996 year code and been bought at a Coach store?

Please use caution when buying from " love2shopdotbags ".

I don't know whether it's fake or not. I'm just not sure it's genuine.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase it not being able to prove that it's authentic.

Both this and the Station Bag look genuine.
Thank you! thank you!! You are very knowledgable and very helpful!! Hope to talk to you soon!
One more questionable nd I don't know if this is your area of expertise but if you had to choose what color would you say the station bag is? I need to order a replacement tag and want coach to get it right this time! Thanks

Hello. This is supposed to be a standard, brass hardware, classic Willis. I believe it to be a fake. I've included the pictures that make me think this. Please, if you would, lend me your opinion.

Thanks so much in advance.

(Mind you, this bag does have a YKK zip fob. However, I have read here that those too can be faked)

The leather base that holds the lock *looks* to sit off center. I lined this picture up (tried to-- looks wonky) with a grid overlay on my camera. This picture was taken with a flash. The bag is inky black.

Purse has white on interior seams. I have seen this on older green bags but never on a black Willis and I have sold three or four Willis bags now. The interior grain looks really funny, too.

Hello this guy is a fake! The craftsmanship is very bad plus read this:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Fake-Coach-Serial-Numbers-NT-4903-and-more-/10000000002744619/g.html
Scroll down a little bit maybe a 1/4th of the page! Sorry about that! Hope you can get your money back!

Man, shoulda known! I usually never buy without seeing a creed and this had few pics. Generally I'm lucky. I knew as soon as I got my hands on it. It's already escalated to a claim, I have no doubt I'll get my money back.

This is two bags in a week I've been burned on. The other was smothered in running black shoe polish and was a gift for MIL. I was livid. SHOE POLISH. If I had time I could have repaired it but I just don't. That had to be claimed too as she claimed she hadn't done a single thing to it.

Ended up just going to the store for MIL and spending way too much money.

Ahh well. These things happen.

Have a nice Thanksgiving, everyone. :D
