Thank you Hyacinth. I've learned to ignore claims about bags from the 1970s unless it's verified by the ladies here. I figured it wasn't from the 1970s but wonder if it's a form of false advertising for those who can't tell. 20 years is a big difference.

Some sellers probably deliberately lie about the age, but many are just too uninformed or too lazy or careless to even try to figure out when something was made. And unfortunately there's at least one " history of the creed and serial" guide by an Ebay seller where almost every single date s/he gives is completely wrong, often by ten years or more. That "guide" seems to be a Copy & Paste of an earlier guide which also had the wrong dates and information and was posted at an outside forum under a name I've never seen before or since. I won't mention the seller's name, but strongly recommend that any guides from sellers named after motorcycles be ignored.

You're welcome. I hope you'll get the refund.

Again, please post a link to the site you bought from. Sometimes, public postings about fraudulent sites and reports from users can be successful in taking these sites down.
Thank you, BeenBurned.

Hi all!
You asked me to keep you updated about a group purchase I made that had a counterfeit.
The seller did agree to a partial refund after I returned the fake to her, so we worked it out.
I thank you all for your help with this!

I'm glad you and the seller were able to come to an resolution that worked for both of you.
I'd call the Soho questionable without more proof. But there's no way I'd tell someone to buy it. It has a Solid Brass stamp on the buckle too which Sohos shouldn't have.
Thank you.

I know you are referring to. He told me that Coach never made bags in Italy only shoes and that any bags that were stamped made in Italy were fakes! When I referred him to salearea's guide his reply would gave been libellous had it been made in a public forum!

Thank You for your reply, I used interbank transfer into her account directly.

Can I request more photos for your authentication? Since she believes that her partner actually used the plastic to "protect the handle", BUT why don't they just keep the handles protected by the plastic all the way until the item reach their customer's doorstep?

I know it sounds ridiculous, but I really need your help to settle the case.

Thank you very much.

Thank you, BeenBurned.

If she's claiming her partner put the plastic on the handles for protection, she's lying. If that seller got scammed and thinks her bags are authentic, she should return them to her supplier.

They're fake and if she's honest, she take the bag (or bags) back and give you a refund.

Interesting.

Then as far as I'm concerned personally, that absolves me of any concern or obligation to protect his name or cover his butt, since now he's essentially calling me a liar.

It's bad enough when someone "borrows" and re-publishes someone else's Guide as his own, and even worse when most of the information is wrong and they don't make the slightest effort to find out if the information is valid. (The original information was first mentioned in a post at "another" forum in June 2007 as the "Ebelle Guide". I believe the original writer's name was Jennifer according to the forum), and the "borrower" of the Ebelle guide, the same person who thinks all Made In Italy Coaches are fakes, didn't post theirs at Ebay until April of 2009.

But when the same person refuses to recognise that Coach bags were made in Italy for at least 17 years, that person has NO credibility as a Coach seller. I can't help but wonder how many GENUINE bags with Made In Italy stamps were reported to Ebay as fakes by that seller, or how many sellers were accused, privately or publicly, of selling counterfeits.

I advise anyone here to ignore any "guide" or authenticity advice about Coach products by that seller, and I want to say that I personally will NOT be authenticating any Coach items sold or listed by " mrharley747 " unless they're proveable fakes and need to be reported.

My choice, my decision.

I just won a large Coach catalogue on ebay.
It has the most gorgeous items like the suede poppy flower line,
double pocket sohos, the suede gallery totes with the beading trim,
and so much more beautiful stuff!
I bought it with the intention of giving it to one of you ladies/women./gals/
whatever...
that do this great authenticating for us.
If anyone would like it please let me know and I will send it out to you.
As beautiful as it is, it will serve a better purpose in your hands!
Catalogue key code SC21 from 2006 123A

Well I'll certainly respect that decision and won't buy from him again on principle. Apologies for re-opening an old wound. You're in the right place here where you are held in the highest esteem.

Thank you.

I know my rants against useless "guides" and know-nothing buyers or sellers can get old after a while, but we've seen so many times where people have been accused of selling fakes because of some totally wrong information published in some throw-away guide posted by someone who wanted to see their name in print and have their 15 seconds of fame. I can understand a seller not being familiar with something as esoteric as a plant code or a pre-1970 piece of hardware, but not knowing that Coach made bags in Italy???

Come ON. There's NO excuse for that kind of ignorance.

(And I can't help but wonder how so many of those lines and individual styles like the 1990s Dakotas, Madisons, Gramercys, Bridles and more ever made it into Coach's catalogs, since every single genuine one that has ever shown up for sale would have had a Made In Italy creed stamp? So Coach was listing fakes in their catalogs? REALLY ???)

Can you please authenticate, the hardware feels cheap, or rather it feels light? Maybe im just used to my big bags that have the thick heavy hardware? for some reason the pics are uploading in the wrong layout. I bought and then questioned...
