I hope one of the very knowledgeable Coach experts can help me with this. I bought a pair of gloves and I know very little about Coach gloves. The quality seems great...suede with (I believe) a silk lining. The only thing that makes me wonder is the tag. I've looked around and other tags don't seem to be like this one, but I don't know if there are different ones. Thanks for any help!

I'm sorry but they're fake.

Did you come from an online purchase?

The bag in the listing above is authentic. In this case, the seller describes it as "NWOT" or "new without tags." It may or may not actually be new. (I don't know the seller and I don't know the history of that bag.) (I thought I'd already authenticated it!)

The bag may very well be new however many sellers have been known to describe used or lightly used bags as new. If they think they can get away with it and it doesn't appear to have been used, many sellers think a new bag will garner them a higher sale price.

OTOH, there are legitimate cases of NOS (new old stock) where the bag might be unused but not a current style.
1. Impulse buyers and/or compulsive shoppers might buy something thinking they'll use it and finally, after years of it sitting in a closet, decide to sell it
2. Coach's liberal return policy allows customers to return unused items anytime, without an expiration date. So an older style might show up at a Coach store as a return and be sent to the outlet
3. Coach might do periodic inventory cleanouts and find older items in their warehouses and either send them to the outlets or to discounters.

So the age of the bag and whether it's new or not is not a determining factor re authenticity.

Thanks for answering. You did authenticate. I was actually using that link as an example of the question I was asking, since it is the most recent bag I have been looking at.

Shoot, well at least they look nice and fit! I actually purchased them from Goodwill and I spent $15.00 on them, so it wasn't too big a loss. I usually have good luck with purses so maybe I'll just stuck to them!
Yikes! I think $15 is a lot for fakes! (To give you an idea, I've bought authentic wool Coach gloves brand new for less than that at retailers.)

Personally, I think $1 is too much for fakes unless you're using them as gardening gloves, but for $15, I'd take them back, demanding a refund for having sold fakes.

As much as they think otherwise, Goodwill and other charitable thrift stores are bound by the same laws as any other store or seller; counterfeit goods are illegal to sell anywhere, including yard sales. And it's the seller's responsibility to know that items are authentic or they can't be sold.

^^^That's the law but it doesn't mean they abide by it. But again, I'd return if I'd been ripped off.

Very well said. Unfortunately, I bought them in the spring and had them put away. I have no idea if I can find the tag or receipt. :( I should have checked them out when I bought them. I've made so many good purchases , that I'm just trying to chalk this one up to a "lesson learned" kind of thing. I'm very grateful for your help.

Ladies, could someone look at this?? Why is the creed off-center? Thanks!

Why? Because it's fake, that's why. And if that doesn't PROVE why MyPoupette is absolutely USELESS as an authenticator, I don't know what does.

The plant code is invalid and belongs to Costa Rica, the serial font is too thick, the 1994 year code is impossible both because silver hardware wasn't even available in 1994, and because that style wasn't either. The Hippie Backpack wasn't even introduced until 2000.

THANK YOU Hyacinth! My suspicions were correct! I had a mental list of everything you mentioned except the silver hardware. Let's get this thing reported!!

Then attach any photos (all authentication must include photos.)

It may be ok but without seeing the entire bag we can't be sure. Maybe a Waverley Bag.
