1- genuine Legacy Small Flap

2- genuine, looks like a Compartment Bag style 9850 probably from around 1989 or 1990.

Okay Beenburned you helped me with the first bag and now I understand why the creed is different, and understand the nwt thing, my last question is I found an identical one, but this one has a beige colored creed, where the first had a dark brown one. Does that matter? Here are the two ads together to compare:

This is my last question before I decide. Sorry for bugging you to death, but for the price, I don't want to get screwed. ;)
It looks like for the pilot version, they made the creed with the darker color of the trim/straps but on the final version, the creed is the same as the color of the bag. It's possible they made the change based on market research/public opinion. The preference of customers might have been for the creed to match the bag.

Both bags still look fine.

I know pilot bags have a p (after?) the style number but I have been seeing style serials with a letter thrown in, ie 8A11. Is this something legitimate? These bags look real to me but I am not familiar with with style serials with a letter. Very curious, would love to know.
Thanks.

Coach used combination letter and number style numbers (the second half of the full serial number) for one year, 2005. And as BeenBurned pointed out before, the fakers have copied those numbers too.

There's a lot of information about serial numbers including those combination style numbers in the Salearea Coach Guides:

Thanks so much!

Sorry no one was available earlier.

It's genuine but I don't know the name - some kind of Soho Mini Bucket.
I just want to comment that coincidentally, I'd found and reported a fake Coach bag from the seller, timeman21. Apparently, the seller doesn't authenticate before listing. And based on the numbering system he uses in the titles, it appears to be a consignment or reseller.

ETA: Here's the creed from the fake that timeman21 had listed. This is another example of a seller of enough Coaches who should be able to recognize the obvious problems with this creed. Even if he didn't know the plant code, the thick font should have caught his attention:

Beenburned, he had a hideous backpack for sale that was authenticated by MP!

Thanks, BB. The name was kind of familiar but I didn't connect it with that fake and the bogus "authentication" from MyPoupette.

For anyone who missed it, the MyPoupette letter claimed that the fake was genuine because:
the hardware is correct for the style
the YKK zipper proves it's authentic
the Coach "Hallmark" is in the correct location

The first and second statements are obvious BS but the third one just boggles my mind, especially since the photo BB posted shows that the "hallmark" is too low, too far to one side AND as crooked as some politicians.

I don't see any problems, but more opinions are welcome since I'm not familiar with that style, and I'm not sure about one of the details. The Cs are NOT always going to match along the seams. Wherever you heard that, please disregard it because it's almost impossible to match the seams especially along a curve, and also trying to do it would mean wasting a lot of fabric.

Please read the Salearea Guide about Authenticity Guide Myths for more information
