Good Morning,

I have a vintage domed satchel but do not know what it is called. I have attached a photo of it. The creed number is 0777-316 and it was made in the United States. It has a zipper closure and measures approx. 8.5" H x 10.5" L X 4.5" deep. It also has a detachable cross body strap and all hardware is brass. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks as always for all you do. :smile1:

My concern is the zipper pull. It seems too short and not the right shape. It's possible that there were other features visible in your listing that were also suspect. The J4D prefix is known as being one of those that is used for some very good counterfeits. The other thing I don't know is when this style was introduced - is 1994 too early?

I don't know what you can do to make ebay reconsider it unless you can pay someone they trust for an authentication.

The style number sequence for 9966 fits late 1994, but I've always thought it was possible that Coach introduced it that year and then withdrew it for a few years because there were too many other similar bags in production. That's JUST my theory, so if someone can find valid reasons to question authenticity, I don't have a problem with that. My answer to the original post said that there were too many differences in the ones listed for sale that I couldn't be sure and would welcome other opinions.

ETA - Since the original posts, I've found one example of an identical serial prefix stamp in what has to be a fake Willis with the same serial font but with silver-color hardware which didn't even exist in 1994. There's probably a post here somewhere about this bag, the pics were saved to my files on June 4, 2013. Here are two pics of the fake Willis plus the 9966 creed in the questionable bag for comparison. With those Willis photos as a guide I'd have to call the 9966 Questionable but leaning toward fake.

The biggest problem trying to figure out which J4D- or ANY J** code stampings are trustworthy is finding them in a bag that's 100 percent sure to be genuine.

Are you looking for authentication or identification? There are different threads for each one, the Identification requests should be posted in the ID This Coach thread at the main Coach forum. And we always need to see clear readable photos of the creed stamp and serial number for authentication AND it also helps for identification too - please read post #1 in this thread for details. It also helps to show photos of the back and one side of the bag so we can see any extra pockets and how the strap attaches if there is one. There are several different styles that it could be and one photo just isn't enough.

Good Morning again,

I was trying to authenticate the purse and I read the first post. The eBay listing number is 151120429349. The listed photos were limited in scope so I took some this morning and they are attached. The hardware is brass. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
