You're welcome. I believe the original strap had a lobster clasp. It's easier to find a dogleash style. British tan is probably the second easiest color to find but it might not be an exact match. If you aren't too picky, there are a lot of brands that made straps in the same color. Or you can buy a new one. There are several people who will make you one to order. Thanks Whateve! I love this bag-the shape is really functional for me. I know the chances of finding a strap that is even a remote match are slim. Should I be looking for a dog leash type clasp? Thanks again for your help. I so appreciate what all of the authenticators do here.
It looks authentic. It's an Andrea slim bag.Hi, I'm looking at the following:
Authentic vintage COACH purse

And all the standard ?s Is it real? What exactly is it? Thanks again lovely ladies.

I found another listing on ebay that almost had me fooled.Yes, it's fake. Did you notice the grommets are silver but the rest of the hardware is brass? We see that on many fakes. Anything with a K3H prefix is very likely to be fake.
As long as there was nothing with "Coach" on the bag, i.e., nothing on the creed nor any stamped hardware or leather, they were within the law to sell the generic bag. Thanks to this forum, I was able to spot a fake today at my favorite consignment store.
The black tote was hanging at the end of a clothing rack. I spotted the leather "Coach" hangtag but thought it and the whole bag looked cheap. $145? Seriously? Took a look at the creed patch and the numbers were like 10-138 (or similar) and no "No." in front of the numbers. Also the creed itself sounded off, like 'This is a nice bag' or something goofy like that. Then I saw Made in Korea. Ah Ha! Come with me you little imposter!
I showed the bag to the SA and the manager who just happen to be there. Guess they weren't convinced by what I was saying so they did their own googling and realized I was right. They said they were going to speak to their consignor and I told them not to be too hard on her as she may not have known herself that it was fake.
They thanked me profusely because they know they could be in trouble for selling fake anything. However, what they ended up doing was removing the "Coach" hangtag and removed the word Coach from the price tag and relabeled it simply "leather tote" for $45. The creed didn't include the word Coach and it wasn't on the bag anyplace except the hangtag, which they removed.
Now that the bag had zero references to Coach on it, they thought it was OK to sell it. Personally, I wouldn't have put it back out on the floor. Your thoughts?

My concern is the zipper pull. It seems too short and not the right shape. It's possible that there were other features visible in your listing that were also suspect. The J4D prefix is known as being one of those that is used for some very good counterfeits. The other thing I don't know is when this style was introduced - is 1994 too early?Just a quick question. I had a Legacy Zip (9966) looked at by you guys a while back, (after having bought enough fakes to make me about give up on them). Hyacinth- I think -actually said, that as best she could see, it had no obvious problems. Given how many truly awful fakes I see on ebay on a regular basis, I am really annoyed that Ebay pulled this particular bag off. How do I get them to allow me to post it? I instinctively feel it's good based on comparisons to my other bags, and the solid hard core brass, etc etc. But here is the posting I first gave you guys just to have more opinions? If it is good/sellable in your opinion. what do I do next? Post #5052 is the submission I made previously. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-337.html#post23661681
thanks, jess
p.s. you know SO MUCH MORE than people reporting this stuff on ebay. it makes me crazy how ebay just believes any one no matter whether they are qualified to give an opinion or not!
Well this was her exact message to me. I'm thinking that I should actually report her. I've blocked a few of the words with symbols. I only said to her "I'm trying to help you avoid having a buyer return this or open a case against you. You should say that this bag has possibly been dyed to protect yourself" then this craziness...Thoughts?
Dear sacsmagnifiques1941,
Nowhere does my listing say "undyed" so i am not lying to anyone in any way. I am not a coach seller. I'm a single mom selling anything of value i have to take care of myself and my toddler before we end up homeless. F**k you and your threats you spawn of satan. STOP HARASSING ME OR I WILL REPORT YOU TO EBAY FOR VIOLATION OF THEIR COMMUNICATION TERMS! Leave me alone! My 1 darn purse isnt going to hurt your profits. I dont care how many purses you have and sell. Stop trying to intimate people like you are ebay purse mafia or something you psycho!

Nevermind... just called ebay and they had me report her for threatening messages. I'm REALLY over eBay. Sad that we can't have a safe place to buy and sell from respectable people.
It looks like a genuine City Bag from the late 1980s. I don't see any problems.
