Can someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
I got real lucky again at Goodwill yesterday, though some TLC is required.
Approx. 8”w x 7.5”h x 4”d Strap drop 5.5” to top of purse
Is this a 2005 Hamptons Weekend Patchwork Small Tote #1481?
Creed is hard to read as it is suede...whose bright idea was this?
As always, thanks in advance!

Good Morning :)

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question and I have read everything on this forum about this but am unable to determine the answer to one question I have.

Regarding "the bullseye"

Has there ever been any know counterfeits that have imitated the bullseye stamp? Or would you consider everybag that has a bullseye to be automatically authentic because the fakers haven't figured that one out yet??

Please let me know if I posted this question in the wrong place.

Seems the fakers just cant ever get it all right??? If I were going to spend 100's of thousands of dollars to counterfeit a particular bag, I sure as hec would spend another gazillion to get someone who would ensure that it is accurate down to the metal chain that holds the hang tag. This is a bit OT, but I have wondered this for over 20 years when I bought my first fake unknowingly.

Thx for your help as always :)

Both Hamptons patchwork items are authentic.

The bullseye has been faked so you cannot assume authenticity based on a bullseye.

It all comes down to money.

The badly made cheap fakes that have hideous patchwork patterns, vinyl trim, and a dozen glaring mistakes are made for probably the equivalent of 5 dollars US each, usually assembled by children working in inhumane conditions and treated as slave labor. Obviously the cost of labor is almost nothing, and these "Canal Street Specials" are sold openly on the internet and shipped by the hundreds of thousands to places specializing in selling cheap knock-offs like Santee Alley in CA and Canal Street in New York's Chinatown. The makers don't care if they look real because the buyers don't know or care either, they just want a $20 dollar "Coach" to impress their equally clueless friends. Lower and mid-price fakes are also sold by fronts for terrorist organizations and by street gangs who often front a storefront business selling all kinds of fakes that have supposedly "fallen off the truck".

As the prices and production costs go up, so does the accuracy of the details. The most expensive ones to make are the most accurate, and usually not sold openly on the Internet. There's a large, well-organized network of distributors who sell these "AAA fakes" as genuine for top prices. Many of them are almost impossible to tell from the real thing, that's why it costs so much to make them. These are usually sold through places like Ebay, and right now a large number of them are coming from the Philippines as well as China and Korea. The retail-level sellers know exactly what they're selling and have their own private networks of information about what does and doesn't work, who has the "best" fakes, and what details to pass on to the manufacturers to make their fakes better - unfortunately that information often comes from places like tPF where we warn buyers about what makes a bag fake and which the makers usually try to correct ASAP.

Remember, these are professional criminals. They know their markets and they have something for everyone, including Louis Vuittons that are so accurate that even well-trained LV store employees can't spot them. The cheap fakes are easy to spot, the really close ones can slip through the cracks. There are a LOT more fakes, and of almost every major brand, than most people will ever realize.

Congratulations, they both look ok. :smile1:

ETA - Sorry BB, I haven't had my coffee yet!

Although the creed isn't readable, the bag is probably authentic. If you can get a clearer picture of the creed, we'll look at it again.

Thank you! I really appreciate it.

I am trying to get a clearer photo, but I appreciate your opinion either way.

It's not a lot of money so I may just have her ship it !

Have lovely rest of your day!

Thank you so much! Any suggestions from you amazingly educated ladies about how to get my hands on anything from the 50's or 60's Cashin era handbags? That style of the bag I had authenticated is similar to what I am looking for :). Thanks for sharing in your knowledge!

UPDATE: I checked my email this morning and the seller added a pic of the creed patch, would someone mind taking a look? And is $260 a good price if its a bag made in 2001? Finally, when did coach stop making in US? I want a made in USA bag, I'm excited t start my pre loved/vintage Coach collection! (I know this one is not vintage if made in 2001, but I do love the shape and style) :)

The bags made in Italy and also in Costa Rica were equivalent to US-made bags in quality. The one you're looking at was made in Italy as were all the mid-1990s Madisons. (If you're under the impression that the bag you're asking about in this post is from 2001, it's not. It was made in 1996.)

Coach wasn't even making handbags in the 50s. They didn't start making them until right around 1960-61 right before they hired Bonnie Cashin.

We're not allowed to discuss pricing - that's the buyer's decision to make. The best thing to do is to check Ebay's Completed listings for that or similar styles to see what they sold for. What the bag is worth to you is what you have to decide.

So what is the name of this bag? It's from the Madison line, how do I read the creed and decipher what it means?

Thanks Whateve, I got my first Issy and am very happy with her!

But going back to the old scam seller romanymiro and supposed victim of photo theft itsinaclutch. I'm really starting to feel the latter is no innocent victim and may be connected even though they are in different states.

Since this is an authentication thread, please let me know if this should be re-posted elsewhere. I posted here because if another tpfer tries a search on these still active items, it'll show up.

Take a look at current listing by

scam seller: romanymiro again brazenly using itsinaclutch's photos.

Item: Saffiano North South City Tote in Vermillion Red 23821
item # 161101500597
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Saffi...597?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item258265d0b5

and in this one, no identifying watermarks and could fool many except for the 2 photos that show a drastic difference in colors.

Item: NWT Saffiano North South Tote in Coral 23821
Item #:161102072778
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-23821...778?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item25826e8bca

Comment: I've messaged itsinaclutch twice regarding photos being used - and the fake listing by romanymiro for the black/silver Isabelle was removed and she thanked me, again. But never did send me additional photos for her current listing of black Isabelle as I requested, just some excuse that the bags haven't been unpacked so I bought from someone else.

Any normal seller who was truly victimized twice would be checking up and making a claim through eBay to put a stop to this, but she isn't. And itsinaclutch herself (I'm assuming a she but I could be wrong) is selling a Michael Kors bag with only one stock photo.

Here's itsinaclutch's still active listing for Isabelle (she had about 5 bags using the same 3 crap photos) we talked about, and a shoddy one picture listing for a Michael Kors tote.

Item: Madison Isabelle 21224 in black/silverhardware
Item # 121169383998
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-AUTHENT...998?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item1c3642123e
Comment: still the same 3 pictures, can't even be sure they are hers now.

Here's the link to her Michael Kors tote with one stock photo from manufacturer
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-23821...778?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item25826e8bca

(wasn't sure if I should put it here since this is a Coach site but just wanted to alert about this seller who has a fairly good 99.5 % positive out of 4380 feedbacks.)

I think we've established that romanymiro who is only selling Buy It Now instead of auction is to be avoided. But what about itsinaclutch? I personally will avoid both but feel very uncomfortable that this kind of seller is connected with someone like romanymiro and selling Coach.

I don't want to ruin an honest seller's reputation but at the same time, I would want other tpfer buyers to be knowledgeable about itsinaclutch's careless photos and murky practices. If any buyer gives itsinaclutch a neutral or negative feedback, she has a strict policy of retaliating by stating in her feedback that the buyer has been blocked. While a buyer probably wouldn't care, its still unpleasant.

I've watched 'itsinacluth's listings for some time, especially the Isabelle.

I did mention the pics to her and how her pics were being used by another seller. I also requested she email me new clear pics with the creed, to which she responded 'I don't do that, as my pics show exactly what my bags look like. All pics are indicative of the purses I have on hand".

Going through all the Issy listings, I have seen other sellers with the exact same pics, mixed in with Coach stock pics. No idea who the pics actually belong to.

Hello, Can someone authenticate these bags for me? One is a British tan carrier, the measurements are 17 x 11 x 5. It has a back pocket and a inside zipper pocket. The other is a chocolate brown musette. The measurements are 15 x 10 x 4. There is a pocket inside without a zipper. The backs of the buckles read solid brass USA. Thanks in advance.
