A faint creed is not an indication of being fake. Some counterfeits have creeds that are too deeply imprinted. It's more important to look at the font of the letters and numbers, and the wording of the creed. It should be consistent with other creeds made around the same time at the same plant. Of course, it is even more important that the details of the bag are correct for the style. This one looks authentic.

One thing to note about court bags is that the older ones have a non-adjustable strap of about 44 inches. Later versions have an adjustable 48 inch strap. It's something to consider if you need a longer drop.

Thanks whateve, that is super helpful, especially with the tip on the longer shoulder drop. You are so awesome, answering all my questions - yes, these Coach bags are gorgeous! Especially the vintage leather, WOW. What great quality, I am in AWE.

@Whateve, do you think this bag could be repairable? There's pen marks ALL OVER but I do love the cognac colour... Am I just being dumb? :\ I am just so desparate for a brown and black court bag!

You're welcome. I wouldn't mess with a bag with ink marks. I haven't been successful in removing ink from leather. Even if you can clean it off, you will have to scrub so hard that you'll lighten the leather in that spot. Court bags are plentiful and you should be able to find one that is in better shape.

Hmm, okay I guess I was just being stupid hopeful that "leather dye" could do something, but I knew deep down it really wouldn't. Bah.

Sorry, I missed your question about the price, they were $228 in the Winter-Resort 2005 catalog, and came in 2 other trim colors and designs. There was a full line of bags including a different group with a white background with bubbles, and also scarves and even a beach towel. And of course a keychain.

Good catch! I'm glad you're not planning on buying it because there are several things that raise big red flags.

The metal ring on the top zipper pull is wrong, the inside pocket zipper looks too short, the seam around the base is wrong, the serial number is off-center, and not only is the font of the serial number wrong but the S plant came on line in China, not the US, in late 1995 for business and travel items, not handbags.
