The bag is fake. Not only is the serial number invalid and missing a year code but the wording of the creed statement is wrong for that style bag. Insist on a full refund if you've already paid.

Now do you see why we keep advising people to NOT bid or buy any Coaches without clear readable photos of the creed and serial number? Trust facts, not feelings.

Thanks for that. I don't think the seller will re-list. Shes a newbie to selling on ebay and hasn't really enjoyed the experience. I think she is honest as she was genuinely mortified when I asked if it could be a fake.

I was hoping it would be a hippie crescent. Never mind, instead I bought this beauty that you kindly authenticated for me last week. 400429266300
Thanks again for the great service you provide on this forum.

It's a hard lesson for her to learn especially if it's too late for her to get her money back. But Ebay is an international source of tens of thousands of fakes every year in every imaginable category, and both buyers and sellers have to be aware of the problem if they want to avoid being stuck with one.

BTW, Coach just called the bag either a Saddle Bag if it was made after 1996-1997 or a Crescent if it was actually vintage and made in 1984 or earlier. They never called it a Hippie which was a different style bag.

So much to learn! Is this one named correctly? You authenticated it a while ago.

It appears authentic. It's a Madison Sophia. I don't know of any way to remove the stain. You might be able to paint over it with metallic paint.

Oh thanks! Appear to be authentic? Hmm "/ is there any info tt i lack of?
I agree that the bag looks fine.

If you purchase for yourself and paint or treat the stains, be careful what you use. Use caution if it's something that might stain your clothing. If down the road, you decide to resell it, be sure to disclose that it was painted. Even if it doesn't show as having a treatment, buyers need to be made aware.

Regarding authenticity, if there were doubts, we would let you know. TPF's authentications, although made by knowledgeable members (as long as the person authenticating has proven herself) are usually stated as "opinions" since this is a volunteer service. You get accurate advice but in order to limit liability, we'll often say "looks fine," "pictures show authentic," or something along those lines.

You can feel comfortable purchasing as long as you receive the bag shown in the pictures.

This bag looks like the new willis bag, with a late 80's- early 90's code. I have never seen another one of this, is it authentic? Is this bag missing handle or it didn't come with handle back then? Thank you.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1378394905.264422.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1378394917.259614.jpg

I'm guessing this is a smaller bag and looks like a Post Pouch, style 9906 from around 1992-93. Except for the smaller size and shape of the base it's very similar to the Logan Bag #9907. Both are shown below and neither came with a handle, these are from Coach's Spring Preview 1993 Catalog. (Whenever asking about older or vintage bags that don't have their style numbers in the serial number, it always helps to post measurements.)

Coach went through an experimental period in the early 90s when it came to details. They tried several different kinds of locks besides the classic turnlock, and they also did at least half a dozen handbag styles with dowels as well as some briefcases. Like you noticed, it looks like a combination of details from this one and the original Willis that went together to make the New Willis and Mini Willis.
