My guess is that the others you bought were made before 1996. Coach changed the turnlocks and leather turnlock tabs that year, below is a listing for the Colebrooke from Coach's 1996 Source Book. If you check a cross-section of Coach briefcases listed on Ebay from the mid-1990s you'll find that 1996 change on all of the genuine cases. I don't see any problems with the listing you asked about.

I don't what style the first one is. It appears authentic and was made between 1988 and 1993. The second is style #9235 crescent bag. It could be from the 60's. The third one is not vintage. It is a Rambler's Legacy from 2001. It has the style number in the creed. You won't see nickel hardware on a vintage bag. Even though it isn't vintage, it was made in the US. The leather on these bags is usually very nice.

Not feeling so good about it now! The seller has sent some pics but they are not very clear. She has also said that she purchased it off ebay a few years ago in good faith and that will be embarrassed if its a fake.

The 3 listings all look fine as does the swingpack.

I'd never heard of storenvy but I looked around there and there's an outrageous number of fakes. Do they have a "report" function there?

Unfortunately, the seller did read the number correctly and the prefix is invalid. The bag is fake.

Fortunately, it hasn't been shipped so request that the seller just issue a full refund. (I hope she doesn't resell or donate the bag. That would only serve to keep it in circulation.)

The bag is fake. Not only is the serial number invalid and missing a year code but the wording of the creed statement is wrong for that style bag. Insist on a full refund if you've already paid.

Now do you see why we keep advising people to NOT bid or buy any Coaches without clear readable photos of the creed and serial number? Trust facts, not feelings.
