Hi all - I have a general question - I have this old Coach bag, #D6C-9016. It's a bit of a mystery because the only others I can find online with the exact same serial number are same style vintage backpacks - I have never seen same serial number for two different, if similar, styles? Just wanted someone to confirm that - Thanks, Bobbie

The serial number should end in -9014 for the Berkeley Saddle bag, but sometimes Coach simply made a mistake. The bag is genuine.

Hi
I have a coach "wallet" I would like to authenticate
Pics attached.
the leather is a deep charcoal color and has the blue & white pillow ticking
inside, has a creed also, it is about 7.25 X 4.5
Thanks
RS

I'm not sure if it's a genuine Turnlock Case. From everything I've seen, Coach only used the E plant code for Italy. If the plant code was re-assigned to a different plant, maybe with the idea that they wouldn't be using the Italy plant any more, it would be the first time I've seen it.

There's a chance the case may be genuine but right now there's just no way to prove it.

I see what you mean - I'd glanced at the few listed and Completed on Ebay but they almost all were from just these 2 sellers and it didn't seem like a large enough pool for a comparison. A closer look at the creeds would have made me draw the same conclusions you have, I should have looked more closely. The creeds are different and the way the "johnny" seller's creed is cut and finished along the edges just doesn't look right.

The Carriage emblems are different too and the font of the Coach logo on the red bags' Carriage emblem looks entirely too much like the badly-shaped letters we see on so many fakes. The letters don't have that trademarked font that only Coach uses, especially the Cs. The Coach logo just by itself would be a BIG red flag, but the whole HAC emblem looks badly made and shapeless compared to what I'll call the Real one.

Based on these, I wouldn't buy that bag from either JohnnyConlisk on Bonz OR from johnny-sells on Ebay

It looks "swollen" to me...everything looks too big and clunky to be authentic. I had doubts, but wanted to check here first before reporting it. I noticed it is listed on eBay too.
Thank you, BB, for doing so much research. I was not thinking of buying it...I was just surfing for purse porn :graucho: and happened across the listing.
Thank you both for confirming. Let's report both because in this case, I'm not sure a buyer would recognize that she got a fake.

1. The pattern appears larger than it should be.
2. The bag is smaller than it should be
3. The buckle hardware beneath the handles (front and back of the bag) looks larger than it should be
4. The hangtags seem to have the wrong font and are the wrong shape
5. The pattern isn't properly centered
6. The creed is the wrong type of leather
7. The creed is imprint is uneven
8. The creed is missing the horse and carriage stamp above "Coach"

Other opinions are welcome.

I've attached some side by side pictures comparing this listing from JohnnyConlisk (also johnny-sells on ebay) to another listing for the same style, 16260 to try to point out my concerns.

I'd love to know where the seller got it. It reminds me of some of the fakes from the Philippines.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

I found a woman selling coach purses off of craigslist.

I am having her send me pictures of the creed and stuff. So far I have only got the pictures for this purse. Still waiting on the others.
Please authenticate. TIA

The first black one is fake. The others seem okay but I wouldn't recommend buying without seeing the creeds.

One look at the off-center C pattern shows that it's fake. Don't waste any more of your time.

Also, style number -6094 usually with A2J in front of it has been used in thousands of fakes and does NOT belong with this style bag. It's always a good Idea to check either my Fake Numbers List here at tPF or Daria48's over at Ebay before bidding on or buying ANY Coach.

The third one's not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling either.

BB,Hyacinth, thank you, ladies!!

Just a heads up. Looks like authentications on the eBay Boards are going to crash and burn. Just a heads up. Carry on... Only way around is to post your own photos...

Yep, it's been starting to look like Griff is back.

Bleak outlook over there. The one poster has asked about authentications and it looks bad over there. You gals will be busy here.

Yep, the bozos are back in charge:

Message 38 - "Jeff" is Ebay

laurenjacksonmom... You can post photos of your own items and ask the Community if the items are real or counterfeit.

The guidelines I posted on the CSA board were all about context. If you are going to accuse another specific member or a listing of knowingly selling counterfeit items, then that post could be pulled. If you suspect an item is counterfeit, there are other ways to address that listing than by accusing another member on the Community.

Thanks but that doesn't answer the question. I answer member questions that come to the purses board. I need to know how those questions can be phrased - or if they are going to not be allowed at all I wanted to know that. I specifically asked about 2 types of instances:

1. A member comes to the board and posts pictures of an item. Can we say "real" or "fake" in response to such a post.

2. A member comes to the board and posts "Question about a Coach bag". In the body of the post, they put an item number of an item they are considering buying. Can we then post responses to that thread saying "real" or "fake"?

If no item numbers appear in titles, and no member names are mentioned, are these topics and answers allowed in the new world order?

I have politely asked a question, very clearly I think, and respectfully ask for a real answer.

And the answer from "Jeff", Message 43:

laurenjacksonmom...

1. If a member posts a photo of their own item and asks if it is real or fake, then you can respond with your opinion.
2. In this case, no, you should not respond to that post.

......................

So just a Heads-Up - replying to an Ebay Forums post where someone asks about a specific listing can get your post pulled and possibly get you Banned.
Isn't the New World Order WONDERFUL!! :graucho:

thank you, hyacinth! you are a font of coach wisdom - i was just reading your ebay guide on the serial numbers - wow most complicated - ! thanks again, bobbie

Thanks, but I only posted a small percentage of the information we've learned. It's even more complicated that what's posted in the Guides. That's why if you have any questions about them or serial numbers in general, please feel free to ask.
