Sorry if this has already been answered, but you had a lot of posts and the questions were all very similar so it's hard to figure out which ones have been covered.

It's genuine, from the Monterey line.

ETA - SORRY, WEST END LINE! That's what happens when I try to go from memory!

Good day lovely ladies, this is not an auction so I can't put it in normal format but would appreciate your weigh in on this bag. Blue soho xl hobo periwinkle blue style 4082. I "question" the bag only because of the hardware simply because I have no idea when nickel began being used by coach, this is a common faked style and lastly, I've been burned before on these. So I am trading with someone and before I do that I wanted to check authenticity, your help is appreciated! Just to add to Hyacinth's comments. I have a different style soho in the same color with nickel hardware from the same year and plant. The creed is identical except for the style number.

Thanks Hyacinth! And for just a moment, I want to tell you how greatful I am for you..I know you've said it a million times to not rely on Coach, how about I called asked them this simple question (when was nickel introduced) and noone, not noone who was working that day was able to tell me when Coach introduced Nickel, like really it is that hard of a question and I would expect some level of expertise, they're usually not informative at all, just makes me wonder, like don't the employees care to be knowledgeable? I would if I was answering a phone for customer service. Ok off my horse, just venting :smile1:, thanks again!

You have to understand something - the "Customer Service" people who answer the phones when you call Coach are NOT Coach employees. They work for a professional CS company out of a call center, just like the people you get when you call about a computer problem, and we all know how that exercise in futility can go. They're hired to answer questions about if a certain style number is in stock, or if your order has shipped yet. They have NO training even in Coach basics and especially not in Coach authentication.

This was posted somewhere last December, sorry I didn't save the URL - directly from a Coach phone rep about authenticating by phone:

"We're not even technically Coach employees, we should NOT be doing it. We're "Coach product specialists" but our job is to help people shop for current items... We're not employed by Coach, we haven't had any "authentication training..."

Not only do they not know anything about Coach's styles and history but I doubt if more than a literal handful of Coach employees in NYC could answer the same questions effectively. Jed Winokur or an Archive employee maybe, but I wouldn't put my money on anyone else.

Thank you :p Whateve!

Hyacinth, well now that makes sense, how sad then...I guess I was trying to do some detecive work on my own and not burden you ladies but I guess I have to rely on you :graucho:. Enjoy your weekend and as always Thank You!

Hi!

New here to the forum as well as buying pre-owned handbags. Could someone please authenticate these two bags for me please? I've been looking for a brown court bag for a while now!

Thanks so much :)
Has anyone authenticated these yet? If so, I must have missed the post. I'm curious to know if they're authentic, as well.

Thanks!

Hello ladies,
Could you please authenticate this bag:

Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

Wallets especially newer ones are almost impossible to authenticate, even if you happen to have a genuine wallet in the same style to compare it to. All I can say is that it's probably ok but wait for more opinions.

And we ask that you not repost your question if no one's answered six hours later, especially when those six hours are in the middle of the night in the US. Thanks!

Thanks for the help! I'll remember to not repost for next time!:)

It looks like a genuine Convertible Clutch, style 9635. That style didn't come with an outside back pocket.

@Hyacinth thank you so much for your help, for some reason I thought it was the Vintage Penny, trying to find one of those:smile1: Just a quick check, do you know what is the style number for Vintage Penny, thank you so much for your help again!

I don't know of a vintage Penny. I think you are thinking of the pocket purse 9755. It looks almost identical to the Convertible Clutch but is a little smaller, has an open pocket on the back and an open pocket inside (no zipper). It is 9 1/2 by 5 3/4 by 2 so it is bigger than the current Penny. There is a smaller vintage bag called a Dinky bag. Most versions of this don't have a removable strap.

The style numbers for these bags won't help you much because a lot of them were made before 1994 so the style number won't be in the creed.
