Comments: Believe this to be a poorly listed Saddlery Bag #9535 from the late 80's. I was the successful bidder and will supply additional photos if necessary when it arrives for authentication.
Must say however, I've always wanted a bag made of nature cowhide. What part of the cow do you suppose that comes from?

I agree. It's always best to assume that some sellers get things wrong.

Hello Ladies!
Would you mind having a look at this:( just the wallet, purse is an ugly fake)

Item: green wallet
Listing number:n/a
Seller: RedTutuRetro

Comments: wondering about age? thanks for you time!
First of all, it is illegal to sell the fake purse even if you aren't pretending it is authentic. For that reason alone, I wouldn't do business with this seller. I don't feel comfortable with the wallet either. The Coach lozenge stamp looks awfully big and I don't remember ever seeing the word Coach on a snap before. Usually a snap, if it has anything, will have the snap's manufacturer emblem on it, since Coach didn't manufacture snaps.

While I agree that the wallet in the Etsy listing (seller RedTutuRetro) probably isn't authentic, there are snaps on some items that have "Coach" on them. (I mention this only because I'd hate to see an authentic listing reported based on erroneous information.)

On my items though, "Coach" is on the female side of the snap. The male side usually has either patent information or no markings.

Thanks for the clarification. These are fairly recent examples. On older items, Coach was less likely to plaster their name on everything. I don't recommend reporting the Etsy listing for the wallet unless there is more proof. I don't know the rules of Etsy but it is still illegal to sell the purse.

Comments: I couldn't resist this clutch for my personal collection. Arrived today and it is absolutely gorgeous. It still has that "new leather" aroma and came in the original gift box with original wrapping. I'm guessing it was an unwanted gift.

Does anyone have an idea of accurate name, year and if this was MFF or Boutique? Any help would be appreciated. Additional photos are available if needed. :ty:
I think it might be a Cricket clutch #42641 made for boutique. I'm guessing around 2009.

Etsy doesn't give a hoot about fakes. They're right there (IMO) behind iOffer and Listia.

Here's an almost identical fake wallet on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-COA...d=281094929266&&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:US:3160

I'd have to agree that MAGNETIC snaps with the Coach name on them especially on older items are probably fake. I've seen what I believe are very early genuine ones with no stamping (someone mentioned a few days ago that the patent information was on a paper sticky in the inside pocket?) or with legitimate company names of the snap manufacturer or just with the US Patent numbers. Some fakes use a cheap magnetic snap with fake (too few digits) patent numbers.

The smaller pressure-type snaps used in most wallets have often been faked with the Coach name. Those probably shouldn't be used for authenticating.

The green wallet with the fake green bag that Etsy seller RedTutuRetro has listed is probably fake based on both the fake magnetic snap with the Coach logos and on the strange zipper pull but better photos of that pull would be interesting.

It's also important to keep in mind that, just like with YKK zippers, a fake item can still have a genuine snap when the snaps are make by a legitimate manufacturer that sells to anyone who can pay for their merchandise. And with the pressure-type small snaps, finding an unscrupulous supplier in a third-world country willing to make fake snaps with the Coach name on them is no problem for the fakes-makers, just like finding faked Coach-stamped O-rings, strap clips, grommets, zipper pulls, etc. As we've said before , "Anything a maker can make, a faker can fake".
