Hi! Please take a look at this "Janice" when you get a minute. It's been painted or polished heavily. My concerns are
1) sloppy stitching on the zipper ends
2) buckles are silver but the strap grommets and the snaps on the bag are silver
3) Creed font is different from my other one.

TIA

I'm guessing you mean the buckles are brass? That could be a problem. The sloppy zipper placement shouldn't be found in a genuine Coach. The creed fonts can only be compared to another bag made in exactly the same plant, month and year - the creed stamp isn't clear enough for me to make a comparison of the fonts but all the other creeds I have saved with valid J4C- codes all still use the old-style "...scars, scratches..." creed with the country of origin stamped on its own line at the bottom. Pictures below.

If you just bought it and the leather has been painted or redyed and that wasn't mentioned by the seller, then it's SNAD and should be returned or a SNAD claim filed.

Thank you Hyacinth. .. This one just really bothers me. I'm starting to get a hunch when one just feels wrong if that makes since. This one is just plain wrong compared to my Brown and black ones. It was described as "like-new" excellent condition and it's certainly not that. The buckles are brass, the zippers are brass, the Brad under the buckle is silver and the grommets on the strap are silver.

I'd value opinions, please, on two different bags currently on eBay:

Item: COACH Shoulder Bag Purse Yellow GUC
Listing number: 171022466244
Seller: my3babybears2010
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171022466244?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Comments: over-strikes around the serial number seem almost "forced" - i.e. "intentional" - also, what about how the word MARKINGS is divided between 2 lines?
If this is authentic, what is the style number and name, please?

Item: COACH Square Saddle Bag Purse Pistachio Green Leather
Listing number: 380611333966
Seller: itsasimplelife4us
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380611333966?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Comments: Seller says this is NOT an Emmie Flap 9018, but rather serial number D6K-4453. Isn't a 4453 a very different (and much newer) bag? And was the "K" plant still using the older creed patch wording in 1996?

Thanks very much!

First one's a bad fake, and as you said, the formatting of the creed wording is wrong and the oversdtamping lines are fake. Please report.
" fake style and color, VERY fake creed stamp - serial number has wrong font, font is too heavy with Serifs, and the "overstamping" lines above and below DONT match the next or previous numbers in the sequence - i.e. the ZERO should have the very bottom of the number "9" above it ( a partial rounded line) and the very top of the number "1" underneath it (just the top point of the number). WHEN ALL THE OVERSTAMPING LINES ARE JUST STRAIGHHT FLAT LINES, THAN THE SERIAL NUMBER STAMPING IS FAKE.

The spacing and placement of the words in the creed is wrong, and the margin should be more squared.

Second - yes, style 4453 is a nylon satchel from 2006, Coach's picture is below. The borders around the Coach logo on the creed stamp are completely wrong.

Hello! I asked about this one yesterday but did not hear anything. (I'm not even sure what style this is, I just like the bag and size) The auction closed and since it was a great price, I bought it to use as my first rehab project. Did I waste my money? I'm new here, hope I'm not asking incorrectly.. thank you for your help!

It's hard to even guess at this one because the way the bag is angled for the photos makes it impossible to see the exact shape. It's probably genuine and MAY be a Classic Shoulder Bag but there's no way to be sure from those photos.

auction has ended... i'm the winning bidder and couldn't cancel my bid before i realized i should have authenticated first... here's the image of the creed

i have no idea why these images won't post... i put the url inside the img tags...

It looks like a genuine Court Bag, the Turkish plant often skipped the dash.

You need to use the Manage Attachments link under the Post Reply box to post photos from your computer files. You can't just post a link. IMG links only work when they are from a photo hosting site or other kind of Internet site.

I look at purses in my spare time....my husband looks at cars on line in his. So, I ask.....Who should be giving who that "funny look" ?? :pokey:

And purses are a lot cheaper. So is their maintenance - and no insurance bills or license fees, and no oil or coolant dripping all over the garage floor.

And without purses, what would your DH do when you're going out for the evening and your hubby pulls out his overstuffed wallet and says "Hon, can you put this in your... uuuuummmm... ?" Bra? No. Shoe? No. See, purses do come in handy, even for men.

Hi all,

Thanks in advance. Love online shopping, but it's hard to tell if stuff is real.

Could you please verify?

One does not have the serial number. Is it appropriate to message and ask for it? I am already doing that, but not sure what kinda response I will get; I would think they should be happy to answer that question, but who knows?

Thanks for helping me make a smart purchase.

Thank you! Since it is on its way to me (along with two others that I will be hiding from the husband) I can post some more pictures when it gets here.

The ebay one is fine. The other one can't be authenticated without a picture of the creed. If the seller won't help, then they don't deserve your business.

Touche ! .........and now by golly I am totally justified in my pursuit of saving unloved vintage bags. I might add that I spend my fair share on lubricants, conditioners and cleaners to keep those vintage bags in proper working order.....LOL ...........and based on the popularity of this and the rehab board..... I am not alone.

I do believe many of us owe our addiction to our forum majesty, the Queen of England and her illustrious court :ps:

Hi ladies and Happy friday! I bought a bag the other night - the seller emailed me the serial# but no photo....it was listed as a B. Makowsky bag with a bonus of a Coach bag ;) ...a RED Janice Legacy....had to go for it.....as always, thank you for your time and expertise.
