Thanks so much for the detailed analysis, Hyacinth! The sloppy stitching is what I am concerned about as well. Actually, I didn't notice it before I won the bid. I searched a bit and found the other one also made in 1994 on ebay and it has the same creed style. But the strap is different. It has an adjustable strap with bucket, but mine doesn't.

None of the seller's photos showed the entire strap so you're the only one who can compare them. But Station Bags in 1993, 94 and 95 did NOT have straps with buckles. They were 44 inches long and non-adjustable.

ETA - On the subject of straps - it's always a really good idea to be sure that there's a clear photo of the entire strap in the listing before you bid. Older "shoulder bag" styles were made mostly with long straps to hang down to the middle hip area, and when the style in straps changed a lot of Coach owners did the unthinkable and just chopped off the last foot or more of the long straps and punched new holes so they could be carried as what I call "Armpit bags". Always check older styles for any strap modifications or butchery.

Another BUT - you can't use removeable-style straps when authenticating a bag because they could have been removed and replaced, just like hangtags. So while the bad stitching on the strap is a red flag, it's not actually proof that the bag is fake.

"thank you for your reply! And it seems that mine is more authentic? LOL"
It may have more signs of authenticity, but "authentic" is an absolute, like "unique" or "pregnant" - it either IS or it ISN'T, there's no "sort-of". :D
(And that's your Grammar Rule Of The Day - there will be a quiz tomorrow) ;)

I don't know if this will help but it's another creed from the same year and plant as the station bag being questioned. It's a different style bag.

Top picture is ilovesaturday's creed. Bottom one is from another ebay listing:

The serial number stamp is similar but the creed itself is different. That's why it's so bloody hard trying to pin down what's real and what isn't from bags in that time period. It's pretty much all educated guesswork. :graucho:

Hi,
I would like to find out about this purse, authentic? Also about it's approximate year and also the correct name, it's called on the auction a classic coach flap shoulderbag.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230952716942

seller id: allengab

item num: 230952716942

Thanks very much

The style number is 9170 and it was called a Classic Pouch until some time around 1976, and after that a Classic Shoulder Bag. This one could have been made any time from the mid-70s to 1987.

I agree with Whateve that the date code isn't right but that kind of mistake was often made by new plants especially where English wasn't the main language. The rest of it looks ok so the wonky month code isn't a problem.

thanks ladies but i guess i'll just stick with true vintage coach bags. this is still on my list, though. thanks Whateve! thanks Hyacinth! =)

Hi, I would like to verify that these coach bags are authentic. Thank You.
