Hyacinth - if that ends up being genuine (dyed purple!), what is the difference between the Basic Bag with two skinny straps (with clips), Basic Bag with one wider strap and buckle on the strap (and clips) and a square bag like this which seems to have the straps attached directly to the bag.

Are they all different styles or evolution of the same bag?

The original Basic Bag 9455 (which was called the Zippered Clutch until about 1980) always had thin double straps with clip ends until it was discontinued some time in 1991. It was re-issued as a Special or a catalog- or website-only style at least one more time in 2002 with a single adjustable strap.

I don't know what the bag in the earlier post is until I get more information. And I don't think it's purple, Brown often photographs as purple especially when the reds are dominant like in those photos.

3- ok but I don't know the name of the style or the color, Chelsea Zip Hobo is probably close
4- ok
5- I've seen it called Denim Blue and Federal Blue but I haven't seen one with a tag showing the color name yet. My guess would be Denim since I've never seen Coach use Federal Blue as a color name.

I think the color is burgundy.

Unfortunately Ebay considers Guides published on their site as their property. Not much either I or Salearea can do about it except complain to the seller. But it would be nice if they at least linked back to the source so other people can read it - which the seller obviously HASN'T or they would know that if the serial has any letters in it, it's NOT from before 1994! And more views mean higher ratings for Salearea with Ebay. (BTW, just a reminder to anyone who reads and uses our Guides - PLEASE rate them as "Helpful" if you haven't already done it. Thanks!)

There's always a possibility that the plant mixed up the codes so I never suggest reporting something like that unless you can actually read the serial and creed clearly. The Z plant like other offshore plants has messed up the code sequence before. It's really hard to tell with such bad photos but the bag may be genuine. Please don't report it.

Or Coach may have pulled a sneak and changed the pocket, although none of the other Scooters has that arrangement. There's probably no way to be sure until Socmoe receives it.

The 9978 Small Sidepack may have been the replacement for the Scooter, its strap is attached on the back instead of the sides and is adjustable.

There is a blue-green version with the Legacy lining, but I think this might be a different color.

just curious about that too since my bag even looks like a diff color IRL than any photo I'm seeing posted here or anywhere. The shade of true teal just can't be captured on camera without a little tweaking. And so I am wondering if this is just yet again, a capture of color issue, or if it's really truly this different of a blue color.

I'm almost positive this is a different color. What is weird is that we've never seen another one. I wonder if they made other colors with a solid color lining.
