Can anyone help me with authenticating this bag. My BBFs step mother found it in the back of her closet. The only thing I (think) I know is it is a Penelope. I have a Penelope I for at the factory store a few years ago.
I hope the pictures attach.

And another.....they aren't listing together :p

And the last one. Any info would be most helpful. Again thank you all.:D

Authentic Penelope leather satchel from 2008.

Thank you so much for your help!

More than likely a fake.

One question: would Coach verify if I called customer service?

THX.

Don't waste your time calling Coach or even visiting a Coach store. The people who answer CS calls for Coach aren't even Coach employees. And Coach employees have no training at all in recognising fakes. Like BeenBurned said in a recent post, most employees were in diapers when this style was originally made.

And how is someone supposed to authenticate ANYTHING over the phone, even assuming they actually had any training? I know I couldn't do it and neither could anyone else here.

The black one is a Legacy Small Flap. The tan one has a creed too, look closely and you'll see it, but the seller probably couldn't get a photo and didn't bother to put the serial numbers in the listing so I can't be 100 percent sure it's real but it looks like a Scooter Bag, 9893.

(ETA - Looks like I'm slowing down again, Whateve!)

I just got a Scooter bag (one of the miraculous H4B-9893 bags) and it doesn't have a pocket inside. It has a front pocket under the flap and the creed is in that pocket rather than in the main body of the bag (took me a little while to find it).

This listing has good photos of the front pocket with the creed and the main pocket (with no inside pocket).

This looks like a similar bag, but I can't tell if the smooth leather is a pocket or the back of the bag. In either case, it is much higher up than the bag in the original post.

Thanks, Netlawyer, that's a big help. So apparently the small tan bag either isn't a Scooter bag but may be some other style, or it may just be a fake. Or Coach may have pulled a sneak and changed the pocket, although none of the other Scooters has that arrangement. There's probably no way to be sure until Socmoe receives it.

The 9978 Small Sidepack may have been the replacement for the Scooter, its strap is attached on the back instead of the sides and is adjustable.

Are both sides of the bag the same? If not please post photos of both sides, also please give the bag's measurements. Thanks!

Hyacinth - if that ends up being genuine (dyed purple!), what is the difference between the Basic Bag with two skinny straps (with clips), Basic Bag with one wider strap and buckle on the strap (and clips) and a square bag like this which seems to have the straps attached directly to the bag.

Are they all different styles or evolution of the same bag?

Thanks in advance.
