Comments: No serial number - so either really old or fake, right? EDIT: Actually as netlawyer points out, there is a serial number, it's just cut off. If someone can still authenticate or not, great, if not I'll ask the seller for better pics.

It does have a creed and looks like a genuine Basic Bag.

Hi everyone! I took a chance and bought this bag (not paid yet) I have researched and researched and think it is from the Sheridan line but cannot find this exact bag online to compare pics. I requested a creed pic or at least the #'s but haven't heard back.......fingers crossed........

Hyacinth, You know which one I could have sworn (with my very limited experience) that purse number 5 was a fake 'cos of the wavy creed outline. Live and learn, lol

If you mean the black Drawstring, I've seen genuine bags with wavy creed margins before, like this one. Looks like the same creed stamp with a different serial number.

1- Everything seems right except the serial number. Even the seller has the right number in the title but the bag says -9146 which isn't even close. Whoever stamped it must have been flying around another universe at the time, especially since style 9146 didn't even come out until 1999. There's a small chance it might be fake because of the number but everything else seems ok.

2- seems ok, probably a Convertible Clutch

3- looks ok.

Hey Hyacinth - Couldn't this be pre-1994 serial number? I'm used to seeing "-9XXX" and thinking style number but this seems to be all numbers.

1- looks ok, I can't read the year code but it's a mid- or late-1990s re-issue or catalog-only special of the original Rambler Bag.

2- definitely not new! That interior has years of wear and tear on it. Same with the outside, especially the back. I'm wondering if it's been re-dyed or recolored, and what they used. It has streaks of different shades all over the back, and the front almost looks like some kind of oil was used on it. It's the original vintage version of the Rambler Bag.

You're right, for some reason it looked like the first digit was a "C" and not a zero. My mistake, sorry! The bag is ok. Thanks for letting me know. :smile1:

Just commenting on the listing that's described as "NWOT." If you look at the seller's other listings, right before listing this bag, she listed an Etienne Aigner bag that IS new without tags.

I think she just did a "sell similar" and forgot to change her description.

WA-HOO!!! Six out of seven is GREAT! :yahoo:
You should have seen the ones I left on the rack. (Think "Goach") I was the most iffy about the Legacy West Shopper and the Terrace Bag, but thought I had that Legacy Zip nailed.

Thank you so much!

Boy, Legacy Zips #9966 are tough. The zipper pull wasn't as skinny as the fake I had earlier (which also had the wrong plant code) but it isn't as wide as the authentic 9966 I compared it too. Interestingly, when shopping I looked at the zipper pull and compared it to the Duffle Sac and the Classic Hobo, which both have a more tapering pull than an authentic Legacy Zip, so I got a false sense of security. Goes to show you really have to know the specific purse.

Also, I think I just reaaaally reaaaally wanted that red bag...

Just for everyone's info, I put zipper and creed photos from the earlier fake, a real Legacy Zip and this red bag together for comparison.

Thanks again -

Good photo comparisons - I saved them for my files, thanks!

It's really hard to be rational about red Coach bags. They like to just dig their fangs into you until you give up and take them home. At one time I had at least ten red Coaches. Once you hit ten it's best just to stop counting... :D

Wow, what a great thread this is! I came across it while investigating my newly purchased ( used) bag.
I am not 100% it is authentic because I can not find this model in teal anywhere else. Online, I only see whiskey, black, ivory and pink.

I know it's a Legacy and think it is style # 12868. Please advise, thanks in advance.

Good point. But it's in the title and the description. It seems like a seller should check for mistakes a bit better. I know they can't change the title once it's posted but they could correct the listing and put a disclaimer in there somewhere. But maybe Ebay had some kind of special pricing deal they were in a hurry to take advantage of.
