Possible to have a Z plant code for US bag?
Hi all -
This is my first post here (but won't be my last), I've been learning a lot from following the threads. I have been accumulating a number of older Coach bags with the intent to clean them up and resell them.
I have a Legacy Zip with #L6Z-9966 under a United States creed. I just realized tonight that all of the other bags I have with the Z plant code state that they were made in the Dominican Republic (they have whacky Z's on them, which is another post). I compared the L6Z bag with another Legacy Zip with # F0D-9966 and they are identical as far as i can tell except for the main zipper pull - the L6Z bag pull is narrower where is connects the zipper.
I have posted photos here - showing the bag, the buckles, the YKK zippers, etc. Any input you can provide would be most appreciated.

I think you have a valid concern, but there's probably no easy answer. The only place I've ever seen a Z code is in bags made in the DR. Besides the questionable plant code there's a problem - several problems actually - with the Coach logo at the top of the creed.
Since there aren't any proven-genuine made in US creeds with Z plant codes I'd have to call it questionable (and you DO know that YKK zippers don't prove a darned thing about authenticity, right?) I'm much more interested in seeing both ends of the zipper and how they're sewn to the bag than in any stamp on the zipper itself.
Does your other bag made in the DR have a buckle that says "Solid Brass" underneath?
Does the brass ring connecting the zipper to the leather zipper pull fit flat against the top of the bag when the zipper is closed, or does it stick up on one side? It almost looks too big for the space it's supposed to fit in. The genuine zipper and pull should look like the one below. (BTW, the Zs are supposed to be wacky on the DR-made bags).
