Comments: Could someone please take a look at this bag. Also if it is genuine, I'd love to know the style and year it was made. Thanks in advance!
Hi - new around here and just getting into hunting for vintage Coach. Thanks for your help authenticating this thrift store find:
Item: Red leather clip hobo

Hyacinth said:Since the seller didn't even post any measurements, I can't be sure what style it actually is. If you can find out the measurements and whether or not there's an outside back pocket we can narrow it down, it's probably either a Pocket Purse or a Convertible Clutch, probably the second one. Either way, it's genuine.
Genuine Hamptons Leather Small Clip Hobo from 2002 so not technically "vintage".
Lily posted on ebay. Something does not look right. Isn't the strap supposed to go over the zipper?

Didn't someone say that they weren't happy with the quality of the bags made in Hungary? All I can judge by are the details, the creed and the serial number. All of those look ok. The leather grain is strange, but the hardware looks real. It may just be a poor quality bag that shouldn't even have been released from the plant. There's an outlet mark which could mean it had to be reduced in price to be sold. It doesn't look as if the previous owner used it very much, maybe they didn't like the leather or the noise either.
I can't comment on the feel or sound of the leather itself. You may want to take it to a shoe repair shop or someone who specializes in leather repair
