COACH PATRICIA'S LEGACY LEATHER Shoulder/Crossbody Bag 9951

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221084205081?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648

Item 221084205081

Seller is nevaehjack

I suggest casting your eye somewhere else.

"L" plant codes are unusual, and most of them with Made In US creeds are fake, especially since most of them also include the invalid month code "P" like this one, also fake and which also includes invalid creed wording that had been discontinued by the end of 1996:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Auth-...393?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item33797914b9

There are several others with the known fake serial number P1L-9951, both by the same seller and both also fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-9951-...078?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item23207a99f6
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-9951-...805?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2573bfae5d

"L" is a valid plant code when used in bags made in Thailand but it needs very careful examination if the creed says the bag was made in the US.

Another thing that all these fakes including the probable fake you're asking about have in common is how the inside pocket zipper is mounted, there should never be a piece of leather that wraps around the closed end of the zipper - the zipper material should extend to the edge of the pocket trim. The first pic below shows the incorrect mounting which is also in yours, note the piece of leather at the left or closed end of the zipper. Then compare it to the other photo of a genuine zipper in a Pat's Legacy from the same year, and with a slightly newer Pat's that shows the left end of the zipper very clearly. In fact the whole zipper and the stitching and alignment on "yours" is really sloppy - Coach usually manages to install their zippers in a straight even line.

Here's another fake, an "H4B-9951" serial with a much-too-puffy creed stamping, a fake top zipper pull and a really badly aligned serial number, note that it has the same wavy zipper and leather edging at the zipper end, and in addition, the seams on the base are wrong - there should only be a single seam in the center.

FAKE.

Thank you so much Hyacinth! I have saved all the great information you gave me. I would love to have one for my collection but in no hurry, so I keep on looking.

Hi & Thanks for all you do on this forum. I read you almost every day. Can you identify this bag? I believe to be authentic. Creed is worn way down; No. 814-6947. Made in the United States. Notice there is an "irregular" stamp upper right of the creed. I seem to remember when the outlets first opened, they got stock that didn't pass QC. I believe it to be "British Tan" ?

Can you identify and authenticate?

Measurements: 9" wide x 8.5" high x 3" deep

Genuine, probably a Tailored Pouch style 4110 from the Lightweight line, late 1980s. The color could be Taupe, it's too light to be British Tan.

Item Name: Crescent Bag (I think?)
Made in NYC (whoohoo!)
Can you please tell me if it's authentic, and maybe an approximate year?
If you need measurements lemme know... She's in the bath now but I bust out the ruler on her.

Pics of front, back, inside, and creed patch:

Thanks a million. I'm new to this fourm & love the wealth of info. I have always loved Coach (am particular to the classic leather, understate & chic) and hope someday to be able to contribute.

I'm attempting to restore this bag. It was almost wheat in color when I picked it up, so faded and brittle. After bathing & scrubbing it may be a keeper. The bag was still damp when I took the pictures. After numerous coats of conditioner & it's still soaking it up, it is a turning into a nice honey color. I'm liking it!

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, Crescent Bag style 9235, probably from the early 1980s since it seems to have been retired some time between 1983 and 1985.

I remember reading many posts ago about a line that has not been faked. As I'm trying to educate myself on genuine coaches, I would love to know what lines haven't been faked. Are there really any?

What other lines are easy to ID in the thrift store, by a novice like me? I'm really only sure of the Sonoma.

The ones that so far haven't been faked AFAIK are just the very expensive ones, like the old mid-90s Madisons and Gramercys. Almost everything else including the Sonomas has been counterfeited, including some classics from the mid and late 1980s.

I would appreciate your comments. Thanks

That "Embossed Op Art Patent Leah" description has been used on a TON of fakes, including this one. The creed also says the bag is made of leather, which it's NOT.

Where did you get this? It's the second fake with that phony price tag description we've seen this week. There was a totally different fake with the same description discussed here on the 29th:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-29.html#post22489000
and

http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-30.html#post22489848

We need to know where these fakes are coming from.
