old Cashin Kisslock Watermelon Tote

Hi guys, I just picked this bag up & would love help authenticating it. The leather is feels right & the patina is beautiful, however there are a couple things that caught caught my eye:

1) Some sloppy stitching on the inside of one of the handles -see pics.

2) Some of the stitches along the top seam are unevenly spaced; this is near where the topline/trim edges join up.

3) The metal kisslock shows wear & the color of the metal looks slightly un-uniform, like the finish has worn. There's a subtle but noticable yellowish/golden toned stripe on the metal along the lower edge of the kisslock. Above this stripe is silver.

4) The zippers are heavy duty metal but unmarked. I checked the sides & underneath.

Also, the kisslock is separating from the leather, is there a way to fix this without causing more damage?

Thanks Ladies (& Gents), any help is greatly appreciated, I'd love to know more about it!

-Heather

The bag itself looks genuine. The lousy stitching looks like a badly done repair. Assuming it's genuine it would probably have been made in the 1970s.

Thanks for the info DemRam! I found that site, but it appears they are not doing authentications at this time. sigh.

Wondering if it's authentic Coach? If so what year & any info...

I wish the Cashin Foundation still did authentications - but they don't.

I believe your bag is definitely an authentic Coach and I think the year of manufacture is probably later 1970's +/-.

Hi ladies. I'm new to this thread coz I'm usually over at Prada.

Can someone please authenticate this cutie.

I've bid on it but I don't want to buy a fake.

TIA
It's probably okay but I'd like to see a picture of the creed patch.

I realize that there's not much time left so if you decide to bid, use a c.c. to fund the transaction as an extra level of protection.

Yep - that creed patch was my main worry too. I've looked at their previous coach listings and there's just no good photos of that creed patch in any of them. Feedback is all good and they offer money back so I think I'll risk it.

Thanks so much.

Hi!
Could you authenticate this please? If you know the name and year, any info would be appreciated! TIA!:smile1:

It's called a Bucket Bag and was from the Lightweight line which later became the Soho line. It was probably made in the late 80s or early 90s, style number 4075. It looks genuine.

Thank you Hyacinth. I stumbled upon this yesterday and took a chance. It is the first Coach bag I've ever purchased - I've been a Dooney fan. I'm going to clean it up and put it to use! Thanks again!
