I am trying vey hard to follow the rules of this sight, in the mean time getting valuable info. Although none of the info pertains to my question I am not sure if I am allowed to ask for authenication at this time, I JUST signed up.

You are allowed to ask even if you are new. If it doesn't pertain to a listing, obviously you can't provide the listing information.

I think this seller is putting hangtags on bags and calling them Coach.

Wait for Hyacinth on the seller's Coach items. At least on the first one, I think you're right.

Slightly OT, but bigfrog19730 did sell a counterfeit Dooney set (both pieces fake):

Would you please authenticate this Coach bag I found at the Salvation Army store for $2.99? The measurements are 11" tall x 5" wide x 10" at the bottom and 12" at the top. I appreciate your help.

Ok, so I'm new to this site and please forgive me if I do something wrong. I recently bought a coach purse off ebay and wanted to know if it's real. I searched the serial number before I bought it and it appears to be correct to the bag. Please confirm if it's real or fake. Thank you.

It looks good.

Thank you so much! Do you have any idea when it was made or how much it sold for? I read it sold for $298 or up new???

According to the creed, your bag was made in Sept. 2008. It's a MFF bag, meaning it was "made for factory" to be sold at the outlets. Although outlet bags have tags with a suggested retail price, those MFF bags never sold for that full suggested price.

I haven't found a listing which shows the tag but I believe that the price shown as "original" (at which it never sold) is $348. The original outlet price, another price for which it never sold was $329.

For the last year or more, outlet prices have been common at 1/2 off many of the marked prices plus, with coupons, another 20-30% off. I don't know whether this is a bag that went way down.

The bottom line that I use when I try to determine a "deal" is how badly I want the bag. If I really love it and want it, price is secondary. If you're happy with the price you paid, that's what matters.

It's called a Bucket Bag and was from the Lightweight line which later became the Soho line. It was probably made in the late 80s or early 90s, style number 4075. It looks genuine.

DON'T BUY FROM SELLER bigfrog19730

I don't think EITHER bag was made by Coach. The first one, definitely not, Coach has never used white ink stamps inside their bags.

The second one looks like it has some sort of "creed" stamp but it's probably fake. The style of the strap is wrong and so is the strap hardware. Without a clear readable pic of whatever that stamped area is, I'd advise everyone to AVOID this seller's listings especially when they already have a track record for selling fakes.

Please report both.

I have the Watermelon Tote and had it authenticated by the Cashin Foundation back in 2007. I was told it was NOT designed by Cashin.

However, mine does have slightly sloppy stitching on the handles, though not quite that sloppy.

Mine also has some uneven stitching on the body of the bag also.

I'm not familiar with that particular zipper head, but that means nothing.

The brass metal on many of my old Coach bags has lost color and changed from gold to silver. I'm not sure why, but it happens.

As to repairs - I would ask the ladies on the Rehab and Rescue Club if they have ideas. It's a huge thread with many pages and lots of great information.

Thanks for the info DemRam! I found that site, but it appears they are not doing authentications at this time. sigh.

Wondering if it's authentic Coach? If so what year & any info...
