That's one of those J's where the last bit of the foot is chopped off, I've seen that before on genuine bags and I'm pretty sure this one is ok.

I have concerns it is a fake. I own several purses I bought from an actual Coach store and seems to have less quality. Also, the creed says made in Vietnam. Any Coach purse I seen always says made in China. The zippers aren't stamped YKK but it has Ideal on the zipper instead. Please let me know if I have been duped. The trim is definately not leather, but maybe patent leather. I tried googling the serial number, but had no luck

It looks fine to me. It is a made for factory tote. Coach does make bags in Vietnam. Coach also has used many brands of zippers. The trim is either patent leather or patent fabric, which Coach has been using on a lot of factory purses lately.
The bag looks fine to me.
1. The trim is patent leather and it IS leather.
2. Zipper brand has NO relevance to authenticity. Coach has used several different brands of zippers over the years and the YKK myth is just that: a myth. In fact, because the fake-makers have read the same inaccurate guides, they've used zippers marked as "YKK," some of which are also counterfeit zippers. Zipper brand should never be used as a gauge for determining authenticity.
3. Coach makes bags in Vietnam as well as many other countries.
4. Googling a serial number or style number is not an accurate way to authenticate a bag.
If you're the buyer of the bag, you got an authentic Coach bag.

Please post clear closeups of the front horse and carriage plaque and the creed. Use the macro function on your camera.
There aren't anywhere NEAR enough photos or photos of decent enough quality to make a decision like that! There isn't even a photo of the creed patch and serial number, and it's impossible to figure out if something's authentic from just those pictures.

I picked this up in a thrift store today
It's very difficult to photograph the creed
Under the creed it has B7C-9983
Genuine, it's a Regina Bag from 1997.
The more "samples" with no serial numbers I see her selling, the less I trust her.
Wonder if anyone's ever asked to see a receipt for all those sample bags? If she bought them at a sample sale she has to have receipts since she would have had to pay sales tax on all of them. Anyone want to ask for copies?
