Hmmm. The bag itself seems okay but that horse and carriage plaque doesn't belong on the style and in fact, is a fake plaque.

Here's a listing for the same bag from the same month and plant:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Soho-...377?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2c69a86be9

Please don't pay for it yet until you get other opinions. You might also want to ask the seller about the plaque. Ask whether it is removable. (Often, fake plaques and nameplates are similar to staples where holes are punched and the prongs are stuck through the bag.)

I don't get why someone would attach that fugly piece of metal.

ETA: I think the bag is genuine and if the plaque can be removed without doing damage, it should be okay. But definitely ask the seller about it.

Ok, got a reply back... I asked if the metal plaque was removable and the reply:
It looks like the metal horse is removable, although I have not tried it. It is held by tough clasps through the fabric.

Item: Brown Suede Signature Beaded Tote 10442 (China 2006)
Seller: Salvation Army Store ($20.06 including wristlet - see next post)

Comments: Please give an opinion about authenticity along with any information you may have about the bag. I found a similar bag on ebay and it said that the color was called "chocolate brown" and that the retail price was $358; do you know if that information is correct?

This is the best picture I got of the creed but if you need a better photo let me know, thank you!

That tacky Carriage plaque is fake and only ever seen on counterfeit Coach items. And it's not even centered correctly.

No matter how close the rest of the details are, the plaque is completely wrong and never made or used by Coach.

Thank you :) I was hoping the seller maybe added it after the fact but from his/her reply sounds like it is original with the bag. So if the plaque is fake, then the bag too? If bags are believed to be fake after you purchase, will ebay force me to go through with the sale?

Comments: Please give an opinion about authenticity. I previously found a very similar wristlet in white suede but without the embossed sig pattern. Hyacinth identified it as an "Suede Beaded Wristlet from late 2005, style 8F36, originally $88, and the color was called Angora" (see link below). Do you have a style number or any informatio for this wristlet? Thanks so much!

Just as suspected and already commented on: Plaque is fake so the question is, "why is it on that bag?" Unless she offers a reasonable explanation, I'd find a different seller.

Based on the details of the bag, I don't think the bag is fake but because the seller clearly doesn't know and didn't take the time to authenticate it before listing.

Hi--I'm hoping to authenticate this Coach purse, which my sister picked up at a thrift. I've done a bit of research (ie read the fabulous resource guides Hyacinth has posted on eBay!), and think this is from (or supposed to look like it's from) the Sheridan line. It looks as though Sheridan purses didn't always have serial numbers (which this one doesn't), but were lined (which this one isn't). I'm also wondering how the "irregular" stamp factors in to the authenticity issue.

Thanks very much for your help!

Thanks, I'm glad you found the Salearea Guides helpful. :smile1:

If you recheck the Guide written about Italian-made Coaches you'll find that I mentioned a line called Dakota that was made almost at the same time as the Sheridans and what the differences and similarities were.
http://reviews.ebay.com/Coach-Italy-Guide-Coach-Italian-Made-Bags?ugid=10000000051492233

This bag is a Dakota Cartwright Bag style 4208 from 1992. An "irregular" stamp just means the bag had a small flaw that probably wouldn't even have beeen noticed by most buyers but was stamped just to disclose the fact.

They're unusual and very durable bags and it looks like that one is in almost-new condition.

I think you should tell your seller that you think the bag is fake since it shouldn't have that plaque. Some sellers will allow you to cancel the sale without a hassle. To me, it is doubtful that the plaque was added later. I think it is just a really good fake.

If the seller doesn't agree to cancel the sale, then you should post your question in the ebay forum for advice.

Thank you SO much, Hyacinth; I have no idea how, but I totally missed the info about the Dakotas! (And WOW your knowledge is positively encyclopedic!)

Yes, the purse is in excellent shape, and my sister will be thrilled to know it's authentic, and to have it properly IDed.

Many thanks, again! :tpfrox:

I saw this on the Internet Archive November 2006. It is called suede beaded wristlet. It won't show me the style number but the price was $88. The matching tote was priced at $358.

Listings shouldn't be reported unless we are sure the items are fake so in this case, I don't recommend reporting it but I certainly wouldn't bid or buy.

Perhaps if she wants to be a successful Coach seller, the seller might want to learn a bit about the brand and read the TPF Coach sub-forum. Not only will it educate the seller but it would add credibility to her listings because she could answer questions and post listings that show she knows what she's talking about.

Thanks again! I wasn't sure if there was an "inaccurate description" option for reporting, but it seems you were right, the seller did end the auction and posted a new listing that seems to have accurate information now, but still did not post a picture of the creed. Oh well, I guess my search continues!

Authentic style 40279.

I have the other suede beaded wristlet as 6F36. Maybe it came in 2 sizes(???):
