Hello Everyone,

My mom recently purchased this Coach Alexandra purse from an online auction house. We are unsure of it's authenticity, and were wondering if some of you experts would mind taking a look and giving us your expertise :)

Here is the website where she bought the purse:

http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/14585092_original-brand-new-coach-designer-handbag

And here is a picture hosting website where I posted pictures of the actual purse (I couldn't get them to upload properly on here for some reason).

Thank you for any and all information...I truly appreciate it :ty:

Looks fine.

Hi - I need some assistance with this listing. I'm not sure if this is the right thread to pose the question, but it was as close as I could find. The following listing has a lot of misleading information including 2 different style numbers and based on the information the seller provided me, while the bag may be authentic coach (I'm not sure because they never sent a picture of the creed) the listing is not for what they are selling. I emailed the seller to ask if they could post a picture of the creed so I could know for sure and their response and my responses are below:

ME: "Hi- can you please post a picture or send me a picture of the creed? Thank you in advance!"

SELLER: "Please tell me, what do you mean by picture of the creed.
What is it."

ME: "Hi. The creed (you referenced this in your listing) is the stamped message on the inside of the bag - if I am thinking of the right bag it will be on the inner flap I think where the inside pocket is. It has the style number (and also where the bag was made) so I want to see if it is the bag I'm thinking of. If you could post a picture of this message I would appreciate it! You list two different style numbers in your post (9085 vs 17998 - the 17998 is part of the Coach Classics line, in which case the bag may not be vintage and is actually an updated version of the original), so I am not sure which style this bag is, and the creed stamp would help me determine this. It will also help me authenticate the bag. Thanks in advance"

SELLER: "Hello there,
I really am off base with this listing please excuse me.
Bag was made in China. The number inside bag is No C 1193- 17998.
There is a bid on the bag which is not allowing to make the changes.
Thank you"

As you can see, the seller indicated on the listing the bag was made in the USA and is "from the late 1970’s or early 80’s" which based on their last response is clearly untrue (at least where the bag was made). Can someone please help me understand if I should take any action to report this listing - 2 people already bid on it and the seller indicates they do not accept returns and based on the listing, the bidders may be misled as to what they are bidding on.

Although I don't see any obvious red flags with the bag shown in the listing, I agree with you that the listing is confusing, misleading and just plain wrong.

If the seller is smart, she'll end her listing, add pictures that are necessary for authentication and correct the description. Otherwise, she's opening herself up to a SNAD dispute.

1. The bag is NOT a "made in USA" bag
2. The bag is NOT vintage

This statement in the description, if accurate and is actually truly on the bag and tag, does raise questions. How and where would there be two creeds with 2 different serial numbers?!?!?! :confused1: One serial number indicates a bag made in 1999 and the other indicating a bag made in 2011.

Unlined (suede – the reverse side of leather) internal, HUGE area with a single, open, slide-in pocket upon which is embossed the COACH Creed, Serial and style number of: K9M-9085. Lettering inside of bag is in excellent condiion; ID# 01193 - 17998.

Thank you for the quick response! I was confused as well which is why I asked the question to the seller and provided a little extra information so that they know I am aware that there are pieces of information that are contradictory in the listing. Also, I thought it was strange they asked me what the creed was, even though the discussed it in their listing...

So for now, should I just stay out of it and not report that the listing is incorrect? I did not bid and do not plan on bidding after the response from the seller, but I felt weird about just sitting idly by with information that contradicts the listing and is directly from the seller. However, if it's best to not get involved and let the seller work this out then I will do that, I just figured I should at least post the information here. I did not respond to the seller's last message.

Listings shouldn't be reported unless we are sure the items are fake so in this case, I don't recommend reporting it but I certainly wouldn't bid or buy.

Perhaps if she wants to be a successful Coach seller, the seller might want to learn a bit about the brand and read the TPF Coach sub-forum. Not only will it educate the seller but it would add credibility to her listings because she could answer questions and post listings that show she knows what she's talking about.
