What's up everyone! Just a guy trynna buy a girl a good Xmas gift, I know she's into coach but finding the right thing for girls is so hard, I swear lol! So which do you think this level headed classy, and mature(most of the time =P) but cool 19 year old young woman would like?? And of course, are these authentic?

Looks legit but obviously I know nothing of coach.
Or for that stylish classy look also :

So are they legit? Any suggestions welcome as well!

Both look like great choices, and they look authentic.

At the moment, and until Dec 16 Coach is offering 25% off. The first one retails @ $398 - 25% = 298.50. The second retails @ $ 458 - 25% = 343.50.

Not sure if you have a store near you, or you could call a store directly and ask if they will extend the discount to you even though you don't have the coupon - some stores will others won't but I can't hurt to ask. I would not call the 800# because the phone reps will need the coupon code. They will usually ship for free too. GL

We keep saying over and over, and I even talked about it in the Salearea Guide on Authenticity Guides where I discuss the problems in almost all so-called "Rules" about Coach, that Coach employees and reps should NEVER EVEN TRY to authenticate bags, they're not trained for it and get it completely wrong at least 80 to 90 percent of the time. You may want to refer your buyer here:
http://reviews.ebay.com/Coach-Authenticity-Guides-Facts-and-Myths?ugid=10000000062607882
Scroll down most of the way to "THE "YOU CAN VERIFY IT'S REAL BY CALLING COACH OR TAKING IT TO A COACH STORE" RULE"

THAT BRIEFCASE IS ABSOLUTELY GENUINE. The details, leather, hardware, and ESPECIALLY the creed stamp and serial number are absolutely correct. The clueless Coach employee - who was probably still in diapers when this bag was made - probably tried to look up the "style number" as the last 4 digits of the serial number, which doesn't work on any items made before 1994, the other Salearea Guides on Creeds and on Serial numbers explains why. Tell your buyer to read those too, and while she's at it she may want to give the link to the Coach store employee who supposedly authenticated the bag.

Just as an FYI, Coach SPECIFICALLY says on their website that employees are not allowed to authenticate Coaches from the serial numbers. The store employee should have followed company policy instead of making herself look like a fool and essentially accusing a seller of selling a fake when the bag is completely genuine. From their website: "Coach DOES NOT authenticate merchandise or determine whether serial numbers match actual Coach items..."

The style you sold was called an Executive Briefcase, the style number was 5260, and I'm including a photo of the briefcase from Coach's 1990 Holiday catalog, page 14. All the details are identical to the catalog photo and I'm 100 percent sure that the bag in your photos is completely genuine.

Even though I have no horse in this race, I have to comment. Hyacinth, you go above and beyond so many times. Just want to say thanks for all your willingness to share all of your knowledge with us! THANKS!!

Item Name (if you know it): Not a clue, just thought it was cute!

Picked this up at GW. I think it looks okay, but the "leatherware" was throwing me off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if I post anymore after this, someone needs to drive over here and give me a smack - my rehab project dance card is FULL!
(and please excuse the washing machine) :)

While I love the Candace (the red one), I think you would be better off with the duffel (the brown one). It's a more neutral color scheme and she will be able to wear it with everything. Plus, she will be able to wear it crossbody or as a shoulder bag. I think the Candace is a little too grown up and seems like it would be something you might take to an office environment. However, you chose two great options and you really can't go wrong with either of them. You are very sweet to come to a purse forum to ask for advice. She is a very lucky girl! Good luck!

Like tannedsilk, I also suggest asking the store for the 25% off (ask for the preferred customer event or PCE). That might save you some money and the hassle of ordering from ebay.

the saga continues. my buyer refuses to accept hyacinth's word; and coach no longer authenticates bags (I had suggested s/he send it off to coach for authentication). is there any way to convince the buyer that this bag is authentic? evidently the buyer doesn't like the quality of the bag, but is that my fault? should i just accept a return? my policy has always been 'no returns' but i'm not sure what to do. maybe a 20% restocking fee? advice needed.
my buyer's comment:
"I will send this bag off for authentication. The leather quality, the stitching and the strap hardware are wrong and inferior to what I know to be true Coach products (having been a consumer of said company for many decades--hardly in diapers when the bag was produced). Just because it has a creed, doesn't mean it isn't counterfeit, and trying to authenticate something online via photo is just as invalid as Hyacinth claims my judgement and the store (Tacoma Mall in Washington state, by the way) manager's is."

Authenticate4U - http://www.authenticate4u.com/Home.html - does Coach and I believe Caroldiva does it too. Both are professional authentication services whose findings are accepted by Paypal, Ebay and credit card companies.

Authentication prices start at approx. $6-7 for an email evaluation but in the event of disputes, sometimes formal and more detailed evaluations on company letterheads are required. Those are more expensive. Both companies can give you and/or your buyer more information regarding pricing.

If the buyer does open a dispute and the authentication comes back in your favor (as seller), you will (or should) win the dispute.

Your buyer needs to understand that none of the design houses authenticate and since ebay/PP/CC companies know that too, they accept the opinions of the professional authenticators.

I would be happy to provide additional photos to back up my claim, since authentication via photo seems to be the level of acceptability. It would be hard to feel the vinyl-like quality of the leather through the lens, but it is there.

thanks so much for your suggestion. the buyer has decided to obtain external confirmation of authenticity of the bag, and i have forwarded your suggestions, so i guess i'll have to wait to hear the results of the investigation. from what i can tell, caroldiva only authenticates LV and Hermes, not coach. i'm 99% sure the bag is authentic, but am curious to await the buyer's findings. thanks again,
