I agree, it's definitely fake. The entire formatting and fonts used in the creed and serial number are wrong, and the serial prefix isn't valid as well as the style number being wrong. Style 9920 belongs to a Becket Zip, picture below, NOT a Taft Bag which is what that fake is trying to copy. I'm glad you didn't pay too much for it. Please discard it and preferably slash it with a box cutter or scissors if you throw it in the trash.

I got fooled!! Lol
No biggie, for a dollar! :)
Shall i take photos of the execution? Ha!!

There's nothing else I can think of. Maybe when you receive it you can post again about any problems you might find - please be sure to link to or mention the original post number if you ask about it again. Let's hope someone familiar with that style may have an answer.

And keep in mind, a seller "checking" a serial number usually means they just look to be sure the style number matches the bag. Many of them have no idea about what else can make a number definitely or possibly fake. AFAIK I'm the only one who's actually tried to figure out things like codes and what's normal and what isn't - at least no one else has ever posted or published what I would consider an accurately-researched guide. Unfortunately at least one of the most popular ones claiming to give dates to some serial number types is as much as ten years or more off on many of their dates.

Most sellers honestly try to do the best they can to be sure something's genuine, but too many depend on their own experience instead of that of a qualified authenticator or even the posters here or at Ebay's own forums.

Thanks again for your time and information! This bag arrived along with another 9085 bag that you mentioned looked okay when I had it authenticated - here's the link for reference http://www.ebay.com/itm/130801218902?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I compared the two bags and found a few differences but I'm not sure if these differences would be telltale signs the bag is fake so I will just describe them for now, but let me know if you need pictures, I just didn't want to clog the thread with pictures if they wouldnt help.

1) the strap: it is longer on the green bag and the grommet holes are spaced differently

2) the hardware: the zippers are definitely different sizes and now I understand what you mean about authentic coaches zippers not breaking because the one on the bag I think is authentic just seems more "heavy duty". The strap hardware square ring is also a different size and the piece that goes through the grommet hole is pointed on the green bag and different than the other bag.

3) the creed overall looks the same size on the flap but the text seems to be a different size but same font.

The leather on the green bag seems to be of good quality but I'm not by any means an expert on this but seems a little rougher than the smooth leather of the other bag. Overall it seems on good condition and I do really like the green color, I just have to think about whether I want to go through the hassle of returning it because I would think I would have to pay for shipping if there is no way I can prove it is fake and by then I would be out half the cost of the bag in shipping. I might be able to try to get a discount if any of the points above lead anyone to think the bag is fake.

Please let me know what you think and I will attempt to post pictures if that will help.

Thanks!!

It's always a problem when there are differences in the size, shape and grommet placement of a strap, except in the cases where Coach has actually changed the strap length during production, like they did with the Court bag. Coach used the same templates to cut their leather pieces for each style bag no matter which plant actually made the bag, so differences in the leather components are usually a red flag. Even places where the seams or piping overlap generally should be in the same place on each bag, and on the green one there was one that wasn't where it should be. The best thing is to do what you're doing and compare a suspected fake to a genuine bag.

Keep in mind that with older Coaches, "fake" doesn't necessarily mean cheap. We've seen a LOT of classic fakes where the leather and workmanship was maybe not exactly the same as Coach but sometimes not too far behind. If a fake bag already lasted this long (except for the zipper of course) it will probably last at least a few more years.

If you decide to keep the bag the seller should adjust the price. What buyers do with counterfeits is up to them, we really hope that they never get re-sold or donated to any type of charity or resale shop because they'll just end up back on Ebay.

Hi, if someone could authenticate the two bags below I would appreciate the help! Thanks!

Item number - 380524058042

Seller- wren1947

Item 2:
Item- 9953

Listing - http://www.ebay.com/itm/230888319329?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Item number - 230888319329

Seller - goodwill_industries_of_san_fransico

1- The creed seems ok but there aren't really enough pictures of the rest of the bag, and I don't have one of those Lula's Legacy styles to compare it to. Probably ok but I can't be completely sure.

2- Genuine Helen's Legacy from 1999

What they are selling is a domain name and the "opportunity" to buy web hosting from them. They place a prominent ad on your site for their web hosting which you probably don't get paid for. Your content is full of Amazon links for which you get referral fees. I believe that Amazon would have to approve your website in order for you to get paid for links. On top of that, you are supposed to get Google adsense revenue, but you would have to apply for an adsense account on your own. I don't know that you would get approved since there isn't a lot of content on the site. The SEO ranking of your site would be so low that it is doubtful that you would get any traffic.

This doesn't violate any copyright laws, as far as I know.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this. I was assuming the differences would not be good news but wasn't sure if there might be differences depending on where/when the bag was manufactured. I am surprised at how similar they are in quality( except the wimpy zipper haha) which is why when I first got it before comparing it i was thinking if it was fake it was pretty good! Hopefully the seller will work with me. Thank you for the education, although I guess sometimes you need to see something in person to really understand, although it was slightly costly it's a good lesson to learn for me!

Thanks to Hyacinth, I purchased the Rambler she helped authenticated. Now, I'm browsing again, hoping to find some cute small bags (This is addictive. I'm also thinking to start a rehab project.)

Do you think this is authentic? The serial # is not very clear in the photo. The seller said it's E5D 9323.

Thanks!

The seller also sent this photo showing a bullet mark next to the creed stamp.

The link doesn't work. From the pictures I can see, this looks like an authentic Casey bag if the number is 9923, not 9323. It should be around 8 x 8 and have a slip pocket on the back. You need to get a better picture of the creed number.
