Thank you Hyacinth! Truthfully I didn't expect the seller to accept my offer and certainly not before I could have the bag authenticated. I can post more pictures when the bag arrives if you think it could help to make you more certain of the bags authenticity.
It may be the lighting; but those grommets look silver-tone and not brass.

More pictures probably wouldn't help because I don't have a real bag to compare them to. Like I said, the only worry is the zipper and I'll take another look later if I have time. I wondered about the grommet colors too, one picture seems ok and the others look silvery.

Item: Black Federal Bag?
Comments: I purchased this bag off Etsy, seller said it looked Coach, but couldn't find any identifier. I had spent so much time drooling over the bags pictured in the Glamour Coach Archives article and thought it looked just like the Federal Bags from 1972 pictured (please scroll down about halfway):

The bag came today and inside there appears to be a spot where the little brown Coach tag in older bags would've have been, but fell off. I would love to hear more opinions on this, or any additional information. The strap only has three holes on each side.

Measurements: 8" T x 8" W x 3.5" D

Thanks Hyacinth. I have asked the seller if it was the light or if the grommets were silver rather than brass. I will probably just have to wait to see what comes in the mail! If I do get a "pig in a poke," at least it wasn't a really expensive one! :-/

Thank you!

It looks like a Coach to me. I think the little black & white Coach metal plaque just fell off of that bag.

We had a discussion about that bag before and I think if you do a Search for "Great Seal" you will find what we thought it was.

I just heard from the seller. She said not only are the grommets silver but so are the feet on the bag. She is also concerned that may mean this bag has problems. Could someone tell me if a Coach Legacy Zip bag ever has silver feet and grommets on a bag with brass buckles?
