Comments: Authentic?

I can't believe the seller tammy7459 is suggesting that the buyer use SHOE POLISH on the bag! It might be a really good idea to contact her and ask her if she's done that herself. If she has, find another seller.

(I think the bag is a Pocket Purse from around 1987.)

Yes, I am talking about that very listing. Taking a 2nd look; you are absolutely correct. That pocket is on the back... Otherwise, the flap showing should be the suede side of the front leather flap.

So my original question stands. Did Coach ever make a stewardess bag with a rear flap? Otherwise, do we have a counterfeit?

I can't find any other 9525s with an outside back pocket either, and it's not the kind of thing a plant could do accidently. It's hard to say something's fake without additional evidence, but there's no way I'd recommend buying that bag.

Toward the end of that decade the Stewardess Bag was a catalog-only item, and the few catalogs I can find it in such as one of the 1997 books also don't mention anything about an outside back pocket. And I'm not even sure if the "B" plant was still open in 1999, most leather bags from that year seem to be from D, M or P. So it's not looking good.

Yes, I agree. I took another hard look this morning with fresh eyes and also noticed: 1) The underside of the grommets on the strap look wrong; they aren't solid..and
2) Any Coach bag I've owned seems to have been dyed prior to cutting and stitching. I've never seen a lack of color around the edges that this one shows on the interior sides. I've been looking for a navy stewardess for some time now... The hunt will continue.
Thanks for the efforts of everyone on this site. It is much appreciated.

I have to tell you that many of the rehabbers, including me, have seen many examples of a lack of color around the edges on the interior sides, as if the bags were dyed after construction. It has been discussed in the Rehab club thread.

Geeze :(... just when I think there's a pattern, I'm thrown another curve. Learning every day. I suppose a good rule of thumb is to expect the unexpected....lol

Thanks for your knowledge
