Someone asked about that same style on the ebay purse board last week. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link but the title of the thread was:
Is this COACH Authentic?

And the answer is no, it's not authentic. It's scary because the pattern and the creed are nearly perfect (as in "perfect" according to Coach "rules) but unfortunately, the style isn't legit, the serial number doesn't match the wristlet and the item is fake. (The centering and alignment of the pattern isn't perfect, but that's not completely surprising on a fake. But it's "better" than some!)

This is what style 9747 should look like:

I agree with BeenBurned. The fake is a mix of the 2004 Fall Vintage colors and fabric but the fakers then added the whipstitching from the Herringbone line. There's NO whipstitching on any of the Fall Vintage handbag styles and no reason Coach would use it on any wallet from that style.

AFAIK they didn't make ANY full-size wallets to match the Fall 2004 Vintage bags, this Vintage Signature Clutch style # 5852 is the only one I can find - and notice, no whipstitching. Also a larger wallet from the same line would have had a style number right before or after the style number of the smaller Clutch - wallets made for the same line at the same time had sequential style numbers:

I hope I filled out the form correctly!

Like I said, they've been very closely faked. :graucho:

I'll go with BeenBurned's opinion on this since she has photos of the actual style and I don't. The only comparisons I could make were to a style # 7064. What threw me is that the seller responded to an ASQ that the hangtag said it was a Fall 2004 Special where the hangtags on the fakes usually just seem to have the plain Coach logo. Also the dark color at the top of the front pocket with the lighter color on the bottom is available on the Flight Bag from that family like the one below, the color code was DE for Denim. And there's a Sig Small Hobo 7061 with the same color combo so there might have been 2 different Blue combinations:

I wouldn't report it though, I still think it's too close to call.

And I'd want to see a lot more photos of the bag being questioned.

WOW, you 2 are AWESOME! Thank you for all the info! I dont know what to do other than pay for it since I won. When I get it, I could take more photos so you can look it it closer, if you'd like. I dont know where to put them though. Im really only familiar with the Authenticate this Coach threads. Do I just make a new post in the Coach forum?
I really appreciate both your help! Hopefully they did make 2 blue lines, if not, i guess I have a fake on my hands. Should I send it back once I get it, if its truly fake? Im at such a loss as what to do in this situation.

Comments: Please give an opinion about authenticity, thank you. This wristlet reminded me of the Angora 8F36 wristlet that Hyacinth previously authenticated and said it originally sold in 2005 for $88, see link below. Do you know if this one is the same/similar style number and era? Thanks again!

I can't find a number for the Signature version but it's from the same family. They only made the bags and accessories for a year or maybe two because the glass beads were very delicate and tended to break and fall off, so be very careful with them.

Make a new post right here but please copy either the full link to your old post or the post number into the new post.

Please take a clear-as-possible photo of the creed and serial number, the front and back of the leather hangtag, and the part of the magnetic snap with the brand name and patent number stamped on it, and any other areas that BeenBurned needs to see too. I'm pretty sure that both blue combinations are ok, we just need to see a few small details.

I apologize - you're absolutely right, the YKK zipper is not a guarantee, or even evidence, but it was more that a sturdy zipper was used that made me a little curious about whether it could be real, you know? I had never seen anything like it, it's almost like they were making the interior pocket for a purse, and realize it was too big (10 3/16" x 7.5"), and decided to sell it rather than scrap it. I was so flummoxed by it that I bought it without checking with you guys first (which I should have definitely done).

I think this would be the link to the album?

Thanks again!

I still can't recognise it, but there are always a ton of handbag and business accessories that never make it into any catalogs or even to most of the full-price OR outlet stores. The quality seems consistent with Coach but that's all I can say.

Comments: Could someone authenticate this? I'm wondering about the color of the inside zipper being different than the bag color. Again, any additional information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The zipper is ok, Coach used an industrial-style heavy brass zipper with a dark blue fabric backing in a lot of its bags from the 1980s. This one's genuine and was probably a much darker green when it was new and was (and still is) called a City Bag, made in the late 1980s or early 90s.

Thanks for the very helpful information again Hyacinth! I really was hoping it was an older version of the City Bag but then there are all those "different" numbers that are still keeping me confused! LOL! I did not realize that about the zipper. I just assumed they would all match the color of the bag or be a really neutral color rather than a contrasting one. That's good to know! Thank you again!
