Since Hyacinth authenticated the bag, I'll just comment on my thoughts regarding flagged listings and Listia's responsibilities if they want to keep the site safe.

It appears that only flagged listings are posted on TPF and if a listing isn't flagged, it's assumed to be genuine, allowed to run to completion, sometimes ending in GIN (get it now - Listia's equivalent of ebay's BIN).

The problem is that members are so used to seeing fakes that they assume that's what genuine Coach (LV, Dooney, Gucci, etc) look like and when they see the real deal, they assume it's fake and flag it.

There are currently at least 5 other "Coach" listings that are OBVIOUS fakes. Some have Mod requests for more pictures; others have members complimenting the seller on the great bag. None of these fakes are even "good" ones! Yet, they aren't flagged so they don't get removed and buyers are ripped off.

Worse yet, is that a month or so down the road, that winning buyer decides to resell the fake, thereby continuing the cycle, where if the listing was removed in the first place, the cycle might have ended there.

Another problem that needs addressing is Listia members' use of pictures that were stolen from ebay and Bonanza sellers' listings, or stock photos. To Listia's credit, they say they will remove listings that are reported by the rights owners, but since most of those sellers aren't aware of or familiar with LIstia, they don't know how to report the image theft. And filing a support ticket is, frankly, a PITA and not easy for the uninitiated.

Here are just 2 examples:

Coach keychains are very highly faked so not only is it wrong to steal another seller's picture without permission, but a Listia seller who shows a trusted seller's authentic item is NOT showing the item the buyer will receive. Who knows whether the seller has a fake or not?

This is a Listia listing: http://www.listia.com/auction/6068060-nwot-coach-pave-crystal-turn-lock-valet

The clear (second) picture in the listing was stolen from this seller's Bonz listing: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/NEW-COACH-PAVE-CRYSTAL-VALET-TURNLOCK-KEYCHAIN-92647/42248851

And although this listing is now removed, I know that CluelessInWA can see it.
http://www.listia.com/auction/6037767-coach-swingpack-crossbody-in-khaki-with

^^^ That listing was stolen from this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-SWING...146?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item1c2b4ba96a

Both the above ebay and Bonz sellers have been made aware of the use of their pictures and were advised on how to report. I hope they do so.

The bag in the photos looks ok. The style has been one of Coach's favorites since around 1987.

Comments: Not looking to buy, just curious about authenticity

I don't remember seeing Carriage logos that early but it's possible, the creed is kind of sloppy and the lining doesn't fit with the style. Hardware's thin too.

Let me keep looking...

ETA - Thin Cheap badly made strap, looks like a fake Coach stamp on the buckle - I can't prove it's fake, but wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. Most damning of all, there don't seem to be ANY discussions about that style number here at tPF. Since when has ANY genuine bag come and gone with no comments at all?

I hope I filled out the form correctly!
Please wait for other opinions on this listing because there have been some extremely close fakes with the seemingly correct serial number and fairly close details.

As for the bag in question, I do not believe it's authentic. The pattern is slightly uncentered and misaligned and AFAIK, the colors should be reversed. Where the darker blue is in the ebay listing in question, it should be lighter blue leather and where the listing shows light blue suede, it should be dark blue suede.

I believe this to be an authentic listing with the correct color combination:

ETA: Here is a comparison of the listing in question vs. the above-referenced listing as compared to Coach's stock photo. Although Coach has been known to make changes from their stock pic prototype before putting item into production, I don't believe that's the case with this style.

Additionally, the prefix on the listing you've questioned, C04U has been seen on many fakes. Though valid, items with that prefix need to be looked at carefully.

1- the bag and creed seem ok but the measurements sound a bit small. Coach usually says something like 9 1/2 x 10 but their measurements can be a bit optimistic.

2- I don't have any pictures at all of that one, just the name - Classic Lunch Tote. It looks like Coach's version of fried rice - take all the leftover zippers and zipper pulls and cook them with leather and a Logo lining. It really looks strange but that makes me think it's probably genuine. Probably.

3 and 4 look ok, 4 is an Envelope Portfolio style 5190, probably late 1980s.

LOL! Learn something new about Coach each day :smile1: I may have been off on my Janice measurements, as it matches the black one I have in size exactly. I will go back and measure. Thank you for taking a look at them and for the extra info!

Item: Coach Envelope/Sleeve (???)
Seller: N/A

I purchased this yesterday, I'm not sure what it is, or whether it's real - there's no creed, but the leather felt right, the zipper is YKK, and the color red matched a vintage bag I have, so I took a chance. It almost looks like the pocket they would sew into a vintage bag, but there is no indications that it was removed from one.

There are more pictures at the photobucket

Thanks for all suggestions!

I've never seen it before but it might be an organizer of some kind. If you have more photos at Photobucket than the three posted here, we need you to please post the link to the Photobucket album.

BTW, YKK zippers can NEVER prove that something is or isn't real.
