Comments: Please help me authenticate this purse!
I hope I filled out the form correctly!

Please wait for other opinions on this listing because there have been some extremely close fakes with the seemingly correct serial number and fairly close details.

As for the bag in question, I do not believe it's authentic. The pattern is slightly uncentered and misaligned and AFAIK, the colors should be reversed. Where the darker blue is in the ebay listing in question, it should be lighter blue leather and where the listing shows light blue suede, it should be dark blue suede.

I believe this to be an authentic listing with the correct color combination:

ETA: Here is a comparison of the listing in question vs. the above-referenced listing as compared to Coach's stock photo. Although Coach has been known to make changes from their stock pic prototype before putting item into production, I don't believe that's the case with this style.

Additionally, the prefix on the listing you've questioned, C04U has been seen on many fakes. Though valid, items with that prefix need to be looked at carefully.

You're welcome.

Like I said, they've been very closely faked. :graucho:

I'll go with BeenBurned's opinion on this since she has photos of the actual style and I don't. The only comparisons I could make were to a style # 7064. What threw me is that the seller responded to an ASQ that the hangtag said it was a Fall 2004 Special where the hangtags on the fakes usually just seem to have the plain Coach logo. Also the dark color at the top of the front pocket with the lighter color on the bottom is available on the Flight Bag from that family like the one below, the color code was DE for Denim. And there's a Sig Small Hobo 7061 with the same color combo so there might have been 2 different Blue combinations:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-COACH-...88&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=2&sd=230853024750&:

I wouldn't report it though, I still think it's too close to call.

And I'd want to see a lot more photos of the bag being questioned.

Item: Black Patricia's Legacy 9951 (USA, 1996)
Seller: Savers $20
Comments: Please give an opinion about authenticity, thank you. I know that the appearance of the zipper is important when authenticating PL bags, although I can't remember the reason that the zipper is important?! Anyway, I will post some zipper pics with my next message, thanks again!

I've never seen it before but it might be an organizer of some kind. If you have more photos at Photobucket than the three posted here, we need you to please post the link to the Photobucket album.

BTW, YKK zippers can NEVER prove that something is or isn't real.

I apologize - you're absolutely right, the YKK zipper is not a guarantee, or even evidence, but it was more that a sturdy zipper was used that made me a little curious about whether it could be real, you know? I had never seen anything like it, it's almost like they were making the interior pocket for a purse, and realize it was too big (10 3/16" x 7.5"), and decided to sell it rather than scrap it. I was so flummoxed by it that I bought it without checking with you guys first (which I should have definitely done).

I think this would be the link to the album?

Thanks again!

Could it possibly be a removable insert that originally came in a briefcase?

Here are zipper pics of the black Patricia's Legacy above. When I was at Savers yesterday I picked up a few nice items off the rack (Coach and non-Coach) and then took a look at the "special bags" behind the counter up front.

They had 3 bags back there, all Coach (or pretend Coach!) There was a black station bag that seemed "off" and then I saw mis-spellings in the creed I turned it back in.

Next was a Taft bag that looked good to me, but the serial number was weird. The first 3 digits were all letters, no numbers. I can't remember exactly but it was something like "JGF" so I rejected that one.

The last bag was this black PL and it looked good but it was marked $40 so I passed on it.

I had a 20% off coupon that I used on my other purchases and after I checked out the girl gave me a 50% off coupon, so I immediately turned around and bought this PL for $20. I hope it is genuine, please share your opinion, thanks!

I'm sure it's not a mistake that's found on all Pat's Legacy fakes - it's been mostly in the ones with "P" month codes like in the first photo - but the reason I ask to see the entire inside zipper including the edge of the pocket can be explained by these 2 photos. (BTW, so far yours seems ok)

Item: Girlie Hobo 8165 (China, 2001, lamb nappa)
Seller: Savers $5.60
Comments: This bag reminded me very much of the Houndstooth Girlie Hobo 8161 from 2001 that Hyacinth had previously authenticated for me, see link below. This black lamb nappy hobo has some damage, but I figured that the unusual hangtag was worth at least $5 so I bought it! Please give an opinion about authenticity, thank you.
