I used to work for Coach. I can spot a fake Coach a mile away. This one is legit! Although, I can't say that it's "goat" leather. I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure it isn't goat.

Can I ask what kind of training Coach gave you for spotting fakes? And during what time period did you work for Coach? And can you list what details you check when you look at a bag, and do you have photo files showing the details of the geniune bags?

No offense, but it's been the experience of many forum members that Coach employees don't receive any authentication training, and when the bag is something they're not familiar with such as an outlet-only bag and the person only worked at a full-price store, their knowledge of those styles is non-existant and at least 80 percent of the time, genuine bags are declared fake.

Just "looking at a bag" isn't enough to authenticate, we need someone who can compare actual verifiable details from genuine items. So do you have any experience with determining fakes other than working for Coach, such as at least several years experience selling, on Ebay or at another site?

It's hard to say for sure, that J8P- prefix has usually been used in bags made at the Costa Rica plant, and it would be unusual for bags using the same plant code and made in the same month and year to come from 2 different locations. It's possible but without more evidence I can't be 100 percent sure. So possibly genuine with a question mark.

Also the brighter blue thread showing in several of the photos is ringing alarm bells - the stitching in those areas should match the leather exactly. Coach had plenty of experience in getting thread to match their leathers and an obvious color difference worries me unless large parts of that bag have been restitched by someone who couldn't find thread to match. The stitching in the photo of the leather tab holding the D-ring for the strap doesn't look even either, I'm seeing different-size stitches.
