I'm not sure when that bag was issued, but I have it in black and everything about the red one looks right. Beautiful color!

I don't have a problem with the Coach stamp. I think that Coach was using many different "marks" after Bonnie Cashin left the company.

Because any authentication here is ONLY an opinion. There's nothing in or on a bag that absolutely proves it's genuine. If a fake is good enough it can fool anyone. I like to remind posters once in a while that nothing is 100 percent certain, unless you bought the bag yourself directly from a Coach store. And even with Coach stores and moreso with their major retailers, there's still a tiny chance of a fake slipping through.

If you want absolute certainty, you need to appeal to a much higher Power than me for an answer.

I did end up buying the purse, and I promise I will keep saddle soap far away from it :) I have my Apple, Leather CPR and Black Rocks on hand to baby the purse :D I have been reading through the Rehab and Rescue club thread and learning a lot!

The seller used a lot of style names...but it's actually a "Murphy" bag, which is style 9930. That one was made pre-1994.
