Legit & if so, is it from 1997?
It looks genuine, and you're correct about the year.

OMG! Thank you so much! That makes me feel so much better to know that I can automatically return if I buy off EBAY. What about Etsy or Bonanza? Is there anything to protect me if I get a fake bag?

BTW, if you ever happen to buy a fake, the seller HAS to take it back or better yet to refund your money and tell you to destroy the fake. Selling fakes is against Ebay rules and the seller has to refund your money as long as you can provide valid proof that the item is counterfeit.
Not only do most states have anti-counterfeiting laws but US Federal law also forbids the selling of any counterfeit goods that violate the registered
trademarks of any U.S. company.

So ANY retailer doing business in the US (and Canada) must obey the law and
not allow counterfeits to be sold, and should have a process in place for
someone who's been sold fake goods to get their money back.
Of course that only covers countries who actively protect trademarks and
copyrights. Countries like China don't give a darn which is why so many fakes-
selling websites are located or hosted in China.
Reporting them probably would be fruitless but it wouldn't hurt to let themI have a question.. There Is a consignment shop near me that I frequent often and they have two fake LVs there and sometimes a coach or two. Should I report them? Or at least let them know they can't sell them?

Actually, I've been more successful in getting consignment shops to remove fakes than I have with thrifts because consignment stores just give the item back to the consignee and don't lose anything.
OTOH, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Savers, etc. seem to believe their exempt from the law because they've received the items as donations. They freely admit to not selling them as authentic (although some of the prices have me believing otherwise) and don't "get" that they're in violation of the law.
You might get a manager (at any of these stores) with half a brain who can understand what you try to tell them, but so far, I've only been successful in
getting fakes off the floor at consignment stores.
You're welcome.Thank you so much BB! I will say something next time I go in there and see what happens. The owner is a really nice lady and she might listen to me. Thanks for the help! I appreciate it A LOT.

I found this information in a previous thread. Does this still apply? The original post was in 2008:
Serial numbers beginning with the letters N thru Z are not valid Coach numbers and are almost certainly fake
sometimes things change because, as noted in a later post "And yes, Coach constantly changes the "rules" and there are always exceptions to almost every rule" For example, Coach did not add the fourth digit in the serial prefix until it was necessary to prevent year repetition, in 2004.
That information is still valid. And of course, there are more than 4 digits in a Coach serial prefix now.
The "almost certainly fake" proviso is because there are a VERY few genuine bags from a certain plant that begin with N, but they need to be looked at by an expert.
And I'm sorry if one of your posts wasn't answered, it's easy for something to get lost especially when there are a lot of posts on the same subject or by the same posters. If a post got skipped, you should hit the Reply With Quote button and just "BUMP" it up.

I think that bag is okay but I'd like a second opinion.Do you have time to look at one more listing for authenticity?
