Maybe it should be potential buyers that ask about authentications instead. But, I do not authenticate, so ........

I went and read the disclaimer and it is pretty disturbing. And, honestly, I have no clue what was meant by BeenBurned sabotaging there, but I have not see her be anything but helpful here. jmho

I would help if they just didn't have that disclaimer that means they allow fakes "as long as you admit it".

Rather sad!

We dont allow fakes at all and I love it when they admit its a fake because that is the easiest ones to remove.

http://www.listia.com/rules

under prohibited items

"Replicas, Fakes, Counterfeit Items & Unauthorized Copies or Illegal Use of Trademarks

Any items that cannot be determined to be authentic are prohibited. If you are not sure if it's real, you cannot list it."

We certainly do not allow items to stay listed if they admit they are fake.. that is not true.. and we DO try to get them removed as quickly as we can when they are reported / commented on.. I just removed a LV purse that someone commented that it was a blantant fake.. thanks.. I am trying my damnest as a volunteer. I just want some help from people who know the products.. thank you

Listia's reputation is close to Ioffers. And with that disclaimer that allows fakes to be listed, why are you here getting authentications?

I see why BB won't assist anymore. :(

she just helped me get a fake dooney off the site.. :)

Thank you BB

Whatever!

Why "volunteer" for a site that FORCES their Moderators to post disclaimers of authenticity? Do you operate that site?

Answer????

have my doubts.. I asked for a inside view.. the creed patch/ lining looks like it might not belong to that bag...thinking it should be khaki colored lining??

No I just help try to keep the fakes off the site. :(

I guess you are correct carlpsmom...the "owners" of the site don't give a flip so they send their moderators to the Purse Forum.

The problem with Listia is more than likely the site owners. They're not able to find people who are actually qualified to authenticate because it takes a helluva lot of experience and time to get to that stage. The only public sites right now that I know of with experienced authenticators, at least for Coach, is here and Ebay's Shoes & Purses forum, and a few of the Ebay posters really shouldn't be giving authentication opinions.

Personally as long as it doesn't take over my life I'll do whatever I can to get fakes out of circualtion as long as the site owners at Listia are proactive in removing them. I can understand their Mods' frustration to some extent since we've been through the same BS on Ebay at least a dozen times, when members supposedly vetted as "highly qualified" authenticators can send in half a dozen reports and still not get POS fakes removed.

Listia needs a way for members to report suspected fakes, a way for their Mods to verify whether the item is real or fake, and a way to follow up and make sure the seller doesn't relist. The last is something Ebay's never figured out, so I don't hold out much hope that Listia can work out a way. But the fewer pieces of Carp I see floating around with bogus Coach logos, the happier I'll be.

Please send me private messages if you see a fake on the site I will happily remove it .

Another Mod had suggested a phrase that would let us know an item isnt real but not tip off the seller, and that could prevent the seller from wanting to block

:( never enough credits :(

Looks fine to me, and matches another one listed on Ebay

Coach uses contrasting linings a lot on newer bags.

seller is : atandkt

several questioning authenticity.. would like confirmation so I can remove.. : )

thank you in advance.

Totally genuine - I can't be sure since the serial number isn't clear but I'd say it's a Neo Compartment Tote from 1998.

One BIG problem I can see Listia has after looking through some of the Coach listings is that most of the posters there are utterly clueless about what makes a Coach real or fake. With this particular bag, only one poster out of five actually got it right.

I do NOT envy the Listia mods' jobs.

Item: British Tan Patricia's Legacy 9951 (USA, 1996)
Seller: Savers $21

Comments: I recently found a mahagony Patricia's Legacy and it was the first genuine one that I had seen during all my thrifting ventures. It was cheap but had condition issues, but now I have found one in tan in very good condition and at a reasonable price! I hope it is authentic, please take a look and share your opinion, thanks so much!

It seems to be ok.
