:giggles: I agree. I have yet to see an authentic bag that someone actually got off of facebook!

True - why would you trust a perfect stranger with your money, especially when you have very little recourse if - no, when - it turns out to be junk? Because "they sounded so nice?" or "someone on a friend's page recommended them"?

Sheesh, if people are just going to throw away money, I wish they'd throw some of it my way. :graucho:

Howdy, have a couple of wallets for authentication. The first one I have doubts about...

Black leather french purse style

Brown leather zip with ticking lining

Thanks!

Why do you have doubts about the first one? How familiar are you with older Coach wallets?

The second is just a basic key/ID case of some kind, probably genuine. I'm just guessing on the first but it might be a Polished Framed Calfskin French Purse from the early 2000s.

1st - something from the Soho line, I don't have a name on file
2nd - Metropolis Zip
3rd - probably as long as the measurements are right

Not familiar at all:smile1: I've just read on here that lots of wallets have been faked.

Thanks

They have, but older ones are usually safer than newer ones, although there are quite a few Korean-made fakes of wallets and other items from the Sheridan collection in circulation.

I can't quite come to terms with ca. 2000 being older. Wasn't that last Tuesday?:graucho:

It seems like it to me too.

And I still vividly remember the Beatles' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show - next year will be the 50th anniversary of that broadcast.

Getting old is a *****, but at least we Grannies have some pretty great memories to look back on. Makes me feel a little sorry for the younger generations.

hello, hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful holiday weekend...up early checking on potential bags...

found these two, can anyone help?

I'm sorry, but since Listia posted this on their site last week and stated they didn't care whether or not members were selling or trading fakes as long as they said so in the listing, I refuse to authenticate any items being offered on their site. Selling fakes is against US law and Listia's blatant disregard for the law is inexcusable - they can refer their members to tPF until they're blue in the face but I'm not going to lift a finger to cover their laziness, incompetence and disregard for the US legal system AND the moral obligation of a site to offer a safe place to buy and sell:

"Hello everyone,
The authenticity of the item in this auction is no longer be determined by a Listia moderator. It is up to the seller to accurately represent the item and the bidders to research what they’re bidding on. That way, everyone is fully aware of what they’re getting and not getting. Please check out the sources below to help you determine whether you want to participate in this auction or not.

Also, we will no longer make claims of fake or authentic. Sellers should clearly market their items to get the best auction results, and bidders should do their homework first, if they care to. As in most things in life, buyer beware.

Here is a website that may help you in your research, or you may want to contact the manufacturer directly for assistance. This is being provided as a courtesy only and we cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information provided by others.

Thanks and good luck to the seller and bidders alike!

I hope other tPF authenticators will do the same, but that's an individual decision.

Amazon should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe members should start writing to Amazon and to Mr or Ms Gee Chuang and ask why their company feels free to break the law?
.........................................

The second bag is genuine, just be aware that the wallet wasn't made by Coach.
