It's called an Anderson Zip and it's NOT supposed to be 2-tone. The outer leather layer has been either re-dyed, treated or conditioned with something that seriously darkened the leather. I'd avoid it unless you can find out what it's been treated with and how easy it would be to clean.

Thank you VERY much. I'm concerned about some of the seller's other items as well as the two tone, so I'll shy away. It looked like there were some grease splashes on the back, which may be the reason for the coloring, but it's always nice to see a style I didn't know before!

I believe this is a Taft bag if authentic. I am pretty smitten with her so I hope she is the real deal:
Creed # H5D-9980
(sorry I had to use a flash instead of good daylight lighting and I swear my pc only flips the creed patch photos just make me nuts because it never happens any other time on here!!)
She's almost 13"w X 10"h X and maybe 6"d when you factor the outer pocket etc.
Strap drop about 22". T..I..A..!!!

The metal part of the zipper pull looks a bit unusual. Does it look as if it's ever been replaced? And is it Brass, or another color?

Comment: any thoughts on this? I'd certainly appreciates second pair of eyes to see if I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. I hesitate to spell it out in case I'm wrong, but I'm concerned about the serial #, the font on the serial number and the stitching on the creed patch. I can't see the rest well enough to tell if there are other concerns.

Thoughts?

I've said it before but it bears repeating - COACHES WERE NOT PERFECT. Different plants used different fonts and formatted the creed stamps differently. And sometimes stitches would overlap.

I don't see any problems with it. It's a Classic Compartment Tote and I've seen plenty of almost identical creed details on a lot of genuine bags.

Thank you very much - I saw the serial number on the salearea guide as one to look at closely, and then started looking for things "wrong" with it - but that's exactly why I worded it the way I did, because I wasn't sure. That's one of many reasons why you're the expert and I'm not. :-)

Thank you again for the learning opportunity.

K3H- is on both Fake Serial Numbers lists as one of those prefixes that can be in both real and fake bags. As you said, it's always a good idea to be sure. In this case it's ok, that H plant seems to have used an unusual stamp and font but some of the bags it's been in have been genuine. I think they were just a temporary location while Coach completed the move to China.

I thought it unusual too and I can't tell if its been replaced. It isn't as "brassy" toned as the zipper or the other hardware. It's definitely more silvery, but there was a lot of tarnish everywhere which I've started working on, and even a bit of verdigris under the turnlock, etc. so it had an "older" feel to her, even though she's in over all good shape. I'd thought I remembered you saying in another person's post that Tafts have had varied zipper styles so I hoped this might be ok. Here's additional photos in daylight. Not sure if it helps. Let me know if any other angles or photos will help. It's hard to get a good shot of the black interior without flash.

Are both side of the zipper pull the same?

Item Name (if you know it): Coach small satchel
Link (if available): None
Then attach any photos:

I'm looking at a friend of mine's coach satchel. The creed doesn't look like any I've seen. The last two words read " leather 1941." Does Coach put 1941 in the creed? Thank you very much for viewing this for me!
