#1 has me stumped. It might be a Camera Bag style 9760 from around 1988 although there's almost no information on it and it only mentions one outside pocket instead of two. But that's as close as I can come. I don't have anything even close to a complete record of the bags made during that time period so I'm really just guessing.

#2 seems to be a Slim Zip Bag from the Lightweight Collection and dates from around 1990-1992, style number 4018.

Thank you very much for looking!

I found this bag in the back of my mom's closet and have no idea when or where it was purchased. I am not even sure if it is authentic. Can you help? Thanks so much!

Ok, I checked all the ones listed, and although there are several fakes 9870s listed, yours actually may be genuine.

First of all, the differences:
edging and piping at top of the underflap panel and underflap pocket is different
placement of the top of the back outside pocket is high
placement of the creed stamp is low and off-center
font of the serial number is vey large
sewing and padding of inside bottom doesn't quite match the others for sale

BUT
there are two others with the same kind of stitching and piping:

This gray one has the same problems with the top of the panel but the serial number & creed isn't readable. The creed is unusually puffy and that could mean it was made in China, or it's fake. Contrary to what some so-called authenticity guides claim, early Coaches from Chinese plants made in the early 2000s DID have puffy creeds, even some af the leather ones with stamps on the pockets instead of patches:

But this is the one that makes me feel yours may be genuine. Not only is it from the same plant, but the month and year code are different, it's a year older. Fakes makers almost never bother changing month & year codes, they just reuse the same exact number over and over. This one has the unusual stitching at the top:

So while there's no way to be 100 percent sure, the same details on an apparently genuine bag make it less likely that the one you bought is fake. The G plant was a newer one and apparently wasn't open for very long, so their Quality Control wasn't at the same level as you would have expected from a plant where the employees had a lot more experience.
Hyacinth, Thank you for all this work. I appreciate it. BTW, the seller even suggested I contact this forum for help. I don't know what to do at this point. I am still somewhat uncomfortable with the bag now. Anyway, thanks.

Comments: I am aware of the controversy surrounding this seller but I haven't ever seen a bag like this and want it for my birthday this year :p, is it authentic and more importantly, is it Cashin and early 70's? Thanks and Love you guys!!!

The bag is an authentic Coach, but whether or not it's a Cashin design is not something I can tell. I would say the odds are about 50-50!

That "mark" could have been used during Cashin's time at Coach, though I have a bag with that same mark that is NOT a Cashin design and mine was dated to the Mid-1970's.

It's also not a "Speedy"...I've never seen a Coach bag called a Speedy. It's a vintage Coach satchel. That's about the only thing I'm sure of.

You should wait for other opinions.

If I were uncomfortable with a bag and there were enough valid questions about it, I'd expect my seller to take it back.

Legally, unless there's definite certainty that the bag is authentic, it's not to be listed or sold anywhere and although it might be authentic, it seems that it can't be confirmed. If I were that seller, I'd take the bag back, issue a full refund and use the bag myself.

It looks ok. The retail in 1996 was probably more like $232, the photos I posted are from several years after that date.
