I am confused about this bag. The seller says it is a "Dorcelle" which is like Coach.
I have seen totes just like this on here that have been authenticated as Coach.
I did email the seller asking for a picture of the creed but thought I would talk to the experts here while I wait.
here is the link-

Thanks in advance for your help!

Wait for the experts, but hold off buying. I think that Dorcelle is just another Coach-inspired knockoff.

That bag has absolutely NO connection to Coach - don't waste your money on imitations. And the seller's listing should be reported for Keyword Spamming.

Does anyone know what this purse is called? Or what the creed number is for this style? I'm trying to find a pink one like this. Thank you!

It looks like it might be a Pouch, not a full size purse. But without knowing its size it's really hard to tell. The style was called Hamptons Weekend so if you search for that you may be able to find something.

This might be it - Hamptons Weekend Classic Pouch, style 1579. BTW, I think the fabric may have been vinyl or some coated fabric rather than standard Coach fabric but I'm not sure. Other posters might know.

Hey Hyacinth, your guide to fake numbers and bags helped me out again today! I went to Savers because they were having a 50% off sale. I was interested in a large black flap bag with brown fabric lining in nice shape. It had been marked $60 so it would be $30 today, which is still kind of pricey for a rehab project IMO.

I found the prefix number in a section of your guide that advised looking carefully at the size of the font used for the serial number. Sure enough, the font was much larger than usual and the printing on the creed patch was faint and indistinct in places.

I turned it in and told the SA that I thought it was a fake but she put it back on the shelf.

I also looked at a navy legacy zip with a puffy, illegible creed patch. I don't know if it was a fake but I got into trouble once before with a puffy creed, so I put that one back too.

I left empty-handed but that's okay because I have quite a large pile of projects waiting for attention - and they have all be authenticated by our lovely TPF Coach experts, thanks!

Here's another seller who has essentially the same bag, as well as some other bags, listed as "Cashin" bags. I know I read somewhere that Cashin marked all her designs with her name, so I'm sure these are knock-offs. Only one mentions "Coach" & I know this isn't an "authenticate this Cashin" thread, but I'm wondering y'alls opinions on these and if they should be reported:

Glad the Guide helped!

Illegible creeds aren't normal for Coach, so they always need to be looked at closely. Sometimes a creed stamping in a vintage bag can wear down with a lot of use but usually the wear is only in small areas.

All the nonsense she spouts is COMPLETELY wrong. Dorcelle had no connection with either Coach OR Cashin - as if she would have copied her styles made for one company with another! Sheesh, I wonder if she thinks that's the way everyone does business! All she had to do was check the Cashin Foundation website for a list of the companies BC worked for.

Just to put one of the bits of BS to rest, and this has been mentioned many times here at tPF already by several posters - the "B" on the hinge of older styles has NOTHING to do with Bonnie Cashin - it stands for Branson Manufacturing who made many of the kisslocks, frames and hinges. Many of the bags she calls "Bonnie cashin" are NOT. She's blabbing that because they have fabric linings, a kisslock and a B on the hinge that means they're Cashin designs and NONE of those statements is true.

I sent her a pretty angry message but I doubt if she'll change anything. In the meantime, because of the BS and misinformation in her listings, I strongly suggest that none of our members buy from " E-MSELLING "

To emphasize the point - NEVER believe a seller's claims about who designed what or how rare or valuable something is. ALWAYS ASK HERE BEFORE BIDDING.

LOL! She also listed this (I assume it's authentic) bag from the elusive Gray & Navy breed of cattle. I think this one might have had some blue Kool-Aid before they went to the chopping block.
