I'm a little concerned with the first seller's Feedback. She's just been accused of selling a fake, and while the Feedback was left by a Newbie who may possibly be uneducated about genuine Coach or just a plain scammer, it's something to keep in mind. Also the bag in the photos probably isn't the one you're bidding on since the same photos were used for one sold on the 15th and already received by the buyer who left Feedback on the 18th. So the current listing is impossible to authenticate. There's also another Negative Feedback from Feb 3 that might make me consider avoiding this seller although again, it may be just an attempt at scamming the seller for a partial refund.

Oh snap!!! I read the feedback on the other sellers but forgot to look at this particular one, I will definately be passing on this one.... Thanks

I think the second one is ok but I'm not an expert on this style. Other opinions would help.

Thanks!
Seems to be ok, but again I'm not an expert on newer bags.
Thank you!!

As you said, I can't authenticate yours without seeing it. Whether or not the silver hardware is ok depends on when the bag was made and for that I need to see the creed and the serial number. The bag in the auction listing is probably ok but serial numbers starting with J8Y- always need to be looked at carefully since many fakes as well as many genuine bags use that same prefix.

-Yup, I understand. One of the reasons I never posted mine here was I never got a good picture of the creed-I tried one day and then the phone rang or I saw something shiny or a dog barked...I can't remember. All I remember is I meant to get back to it and then the next time I thought about it the bag was put away and I've still not done it. I had even gone as far as measuring it, comparing to the Coach site and other Rambler's Legacy listings, I just never finished and posting it.

I do remember that mine was a J8something-9061 and everything else about it looks like these two, including the creed, so I kind of figure if the one on ETSY is fake there's at least a chance mine is-if Coach didn't make a burgundy/nickel combination, that is. I know they also would switch out hardware on request so that's not definite either. I can't get the wayback machine to show coach's site for '98. Looks like either coach didn't have much up for that year or they didn't capture much of it.

Anyway, thanks for your help, I have learned tons from you and the other authenticators!

There aren't any working Wayback files for 1998, I've tried. Coach's website wasn't even fully functional until 1999.

I've reported the Etsy fake to them but you're welcome to add another report. In addition to the fake style number which belongs to a Backpack, the stitching on that one is really bad when compared to the real bag.

I reported it also...thanks for letting me bounce this off you. :) I hesitated asking since I don't have pix of mine, but I tried for quite some time to get a good picture and I may or may not ever get back to it. I do think there is a very good chance that mines fake, there's just something about it.

Hi Ladies,
I bought this on Ebay for $25 a little while ago and have done some rehab work on her. I think she is a classic shoulder bag, style 9170, from maybe the early 80s in the colour called saddle. She is 10 inches wide by about 8 inches tall and 4 inches deep. There is a front slip pocket and the creed is on a zippered pocket that goes all the way to the bottom of the bag - not a flap pocket. What do you think? Thanks as always

Dear All, I have this brown color pebble coach that looks nice and I love the leather. But the serial number on the creed is strangely crooked. It is not what I would expect from a quality Coach product for sure. It measures about 11*10*5.

Could you help verify its authenticity, and let me know what is the name of this bag? Thank you.

Hi ladies, I have one more. I bought this on Ebay for $110 - the only one I've ever seen in this glorious colour. It is slightly different to two other slim kisslock totes that I have and that have been authenticated by you. The straps are slightly wider (maybe 1/8 inch) than on the others, and the zipper pull is different also. My two authenticated totes have a stuck on number below the creed and a stamped on number. They both have zippers marked talon with round metal attachments for the zipper pull to the leather tag. I remember your rules Hyacinth (that there are no rules re zippers and Coach is not consistent), and am wondering if this one might be older than the other two? I appreciate your opinions. Thanks again

It's from the Sonoma line, and Sonoma creeds especially early ones are notoriously sloppy. One or two of the Salearea Guides mention them specifically because of that problem.

From the one photo you posted it seems to be a genuine Small Bucket Zip.
