Sorry, there's a serious problem with that bag. Style 9186 as far as I can tell wasn't even created until late 2001-early 2002. There's no way one would have a 1996 year code, and that's definitely NOT a 1996 style that I've ever seen anywhere. The J plant code is also questionable but the style and style number are years away from when that bag claims it was made.

Also nickel hardware wasn't even used on purses until 1998.

It's interesting and a red flag that DEJ-9816 is a very commonly-used and always-fake number. This new one is just one replaced digit and a few scrambled numbers apart from it.

Hi everyone! I was hoping that someone could authenticate this for me:

Item: Coach Colette Leather Tote
Comments: I asked the seller for a clear, close up photo of the creed but she replied "This is all I can do". And I've asked her twice for a close up photo of the hangtags but she's never responded to that request (she responded to everything else in those 2 e-mails, but left out any mention of the hangtags).

I don't have any photos of that style at all for comparison - you're probably more qualified than I am to decide since you've been looking for one for a while. Do you see any problems other than the seller's poor photographic skills?

I was wondering what you all think of this odd little bag. The leather looks good quality and I assume it was made in 70th so that is why it has no serieal number, but I can't imagine they already use magnetic closure 40 years ago. Any thoughts on its authenticity? Thanks!

It's not Irregular and it's not 40 years old. It's a Dakota Ranger Bag style 4201 from 1992 so it's not vintage either, and there's nothing wrong with a 10 year old Coach having a magnetic closure.

Salearea's Ebay guide to Italian-made Coach bags mentions the Dakota line:

You may want to read all of them while you're there:

Hi again !
I am looking at another bag from a local seller, if someone wouldn't mind to authenticate?

Item: Coach Leather Fuschia bag
Seller: local Craigslist
Link: http://richmond.craigslist.org/clo/3017352410.html

Thank you!

It looks like a Convertible Patent Zoe but there really aren't enough photos to authenticate. The bag is also supposed to include a longer removeable strap, it's not pictured or mentioned.

Well I've just never purchased a Coach bag online without seeing a clear photo of the creed and hangtags first. If I don't at least get to see a clear photo of the creed then I can't know for sure if it's authentic.

Thanks Hyacinth, it looked fishy to me in a number of ways but wasn't positive, really appreciate your help & knowledge!

And not just any creed photo, but one that can be compared to others in bags by sellers that are probably trustworthy. Without that I'm not comfortable authenticating newer bags because comparing details is the only thing I can go by, although some of the other details in the seller's photos make me lean strongly toward "genuine".

I think you're safe, but as always, pay with Paypal or a credit card so that any problems you might spot when you get the bag have a way of being reported and handled.
