Item: Mahagony briefcase 5265
Seller: Salvation Army Thrift $25.06

Comments: I took a chance on this but I hope it is okay because the SA will not take returns or exchanges. There were no misspellings in the creed and I didn't see the number on the list - and it looked good to me; but what kind of serial number begins with 0AZ?! But then what do I know about bags made in the Dominican Republic?!

I will post more photos with the next message. If it is genuine I would like to know more about the bag; especially is it considered a unisex bag? I would like to clean it up and give it to my husband but he will not want to carry a woman's accessory item. Thanks for your help!

Thank you BB!

Thank you from me as well, BB. The packingtape seller is on my WARNING list (next to my computer) for having made very serious threats in emails to several authentic name brand sellers on Ebay, including several that post here. I remember this was discussed on the Ebay boards several years ago.. seller has many IDs and is someone I will never deal with. I think they also used to sell as avas*mommy on Ebay.

You're welcome. (Yes, she used to sell as avas*mommy )

ETA: No wonder she's using a different ID now!

Hello, I have had this bag in my possession for a month, maybe more, I keep going to it, and looking, but something doesn't feel right about it. This might just be me, Im just not in love with the bag like I thought Id be. Id feel better is someone could authenticate it or...... It was bought on Ebay. And I did fix that creed patch but its not coming up with my revision here, sorry.

Thank you BB!

I agree with BB about the second seller. There are at least 7 different IDs for her in my files, between buying, selling and posting IDs at Ebay's forums. She's been on dozens of Blocked Bidder lists for at least 4 or 5 years. Here are just a few, there are older ones under avas*mommy Feedback:
mywifebuyscoach, avas*mommy, ilovetoshopforstuff, susanmarszalek, isitrealorisitfake, 2muchpackingtape, bellybutton63
and probably newer ones we haven't found yet.

It looks ok to me but Noshoepolish really needs to take a look. As for the prefix, it' could be just another case of a fairly new plant getting the first 2 digits mixed up.

Thank you! And I will wait to hear from Noshoepolish. Do you know what the bag was called?

BTW, I think that it actually has been treated with shoe polish (or something) because the inside is a nice mahagony brown but the outside is all crackled like it was painted with something!

I am hoping that I can clean it up because it is a beautiful bag - but it sure is heavy - even empty!

I looked at some bags with the same number on ebay and it appears that mine is missing the leather shoulder pad on the strap. The bag is so heavy that I will have to try and find a replacement shoulder pad, because it probably needs one!

Someone also spilled a thick white liquid inside it like paint - maybe liquid paper - so I hope I can get that out too, but for $25 I felt that it had potential!

Thanks again!

I did not see a problem with the Lexington Brief. I agree the factory may have made an error on the creed.

That's great! So it is called a Lexington Brief? Nice name! So if the first 2 digits are mixed up, that means that it was made in 2000, correct?

Do you know if it was released for men, women, or as a unisex briefcase?

Thanks so much!

It looks good. I'm not sure what you're uncomfortable with.

Is it the stitch length on the creed? I compared it to this listing. The bags were made in the same month and same factory and look identical.

BB The creed numbers look to me like they are slanted, and than there was the double stitching on the lower right corner. Yes and the length of the stitch. Just call me paranoid. :)
