Authentic Coach Small Leather Handbag
christinabooze
Item number: 180855773604
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180855773604?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Looks good. (The proportions of the creed look funny because she resized it improperly.)

Item: Dark green flap bag (Made in the US circa 1980)
Seller: Goodwill $7
Dimensions: 8" tall, 7" wide, 2.25" deep

Comments: It's hard to tell the color of this bag but I think it is dark green; hopefully the rehab process with bring out the true color.

Please authenticate and anything you can tell me about the bag (e.g., name, style number) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It looks ok - Compact Pouch, style 9620, from the late 1980s.

Hi Ladies..

Would you pls authenticate this hangtag?

Item: Coach Gold Tag
Seller: Raceteam44
Item #: 65664881
Link: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/COACH-GOLD-HANGTAG-AUTHENTIC/65664881

Technically it's not meant as a hangtag, it's a charm that was included with a handbag. It's alsmost impossible to say if it's genuine or not, but where is the seller getting so many of them?
They're either conning Coach out of sending them free ones although I doubt if Coach would have so many replacements avaialble for these styles.
Or they're selling the bags under a different ID and cheating the buyers out of the charms and hangtags. Either way, Coach or their other buyers are getting cheated.

They're also listing what looks almost like the upcoming Tassel keychain but that's supposed to be a KEYCHAIN, not hanging from a ball chain, and which AFAIK aren't even available yet, and when they ARE available will probably be a lot more than 29 dollars. Or maybe they're taking them off Willis Bags they're selling. OR they could be finding another way to "acquire" them. If anyone spots any Bonz or Ebay seller with New Willis Bags listed and being sold with NO Tassel or Anniversary charm, I'd love to see a link to the listing or the seller.

It's also possible they're buying fakes in bulk.
Their ID is NARU at Ebay, no sales since 2007, so apparently they're using a new ID to buy or sell. They imported their Feedback from Ebay and had a Negative and a Neutral

Sorry, I don't see how any seller could get so many genuine charms and hangtags. I DON'T have a good feeling about those.

Thank you for the explanation...I'm new to vintage bags but I'm learning, fast. I've made note of everything you said for future reference. Thanks again.

If you mean "Was it designed by BC, or made while she was with Coach?"

1- I don't know, it's possible. But even if it was originally designed while she worked for Coach, it may not be one of her designs.
and
2- I doubt it, from what I've heard so far a Cashin-era bag wouldn't have a creed and serial number. Probably at least 90 percent of Coaches that are described as "Bonnie Cashin" have little or nothing to do with her aside from maybe one or two design details. Authentic Bonnie Cashin bags will usually have her unique lining inside, or a small tag with her name. The "Bonnie Cashin" description on most listings is inaccurate and often deceptive.

I'm glad I didn't respond to the authentication request before Hyacinth responded. She's spot on and said it beautifully.

Another possibility for the seller getting the items is buying the bags, stealing the charms and returning the bags to the store, sans charms.

There's no way this seller acquired all those individual charms honestly unless she's cheating someone.

I don't recommend Raceteam44.

There were some other questionable sellers (from FL) who sold dozens (or hundreds) of hangtags.

Raceteam44 might be samsoccer32, a seller who isn't currently selling hangtags but has sold many.

Another possible ebay ID for Raceteam44 is a recently naru'ed ebay seller, gordonfire24. Although the current location doesn't show as being in FL, in the past, he/she was located in Florida.

I won this on eBay and would like authentication please (mad bidding, total impulse buy!). I am just a little concerned about the Creed patch with the glued-on strip of leather. I understand that Coach did this back in the 70’s; I just want to make sure this bag is for real. It looks good to me overall (I am no expert), but I still would like another opinion. I will not carry a fake. :nono:
I am going to try and post photos I took of the bag, including a good picture of the patch.

I am a newbie to tPF, and I have learned so much, and there is still so much to learn…thank you to all the wonderful people of Purse Forum! :happydance:

It's the "Slim Satchel Standard" because of the measurements. Probably made in the later 70's. The glued on serial numbers are fine for the later 1970's time frame.

I have no idea if it's a Cashin design (maybe someone else does) but at least it's authentic.

:smile1:

Picked this up today at the local consignment. They said I could return if not authentic.
Not an auction.
Thanks!

Thank you Dem Ram! I worry when my impulse overrides my common sense, lol.
